Yeah, because despite as a product being adored around the world I am sure they would change the name because of a few bitter lower league supporters.

It was the FA Premier League.
Then Premiership (EPL in rest of world).
Now Premier League.
At least they don't pretend the FA is in charge of it now.

No. It was the FA Premier League in its first year, then in England, it was known as the FA Premiership. Overseas, it was called the EPL (English Premier League).
Now, it's known (everywhere) as the Premier League.

They only changed it to be more user friendly. Also means we have 2 Premier Leagues - dont forget Blue Square.
