I have just been approached by what I think is an Albanian person selling the Big Issue.

Is this right for them to do this?

Selling the Big Issue gives somebody a chance to survive in todays society. It builds up some dignity for that person , does it matter that they maybe from a different ethnic background ?

If you are suggesting that immigrants should only be allowed in the country if they have meaningful employment organised, then you may have a point. However, in this instance he may have fallen on bad times and resorted to selling the big issue.

Seeing as by selling the Big Issue (which they have to buy themselves) and offering something in return (for a profit) which you have the choice to purchase or not..

.. then yes.

The Big Issue is actually quite a "Thatcherite" concept in that it encourages people NOT to claim off the state but to help themselves out of the situation.

Essentially they are being encouraged to become self employed.

Incidently the founder is rumoured to be standing as the Conservative candidate for the mayor of London.

So I'm not entirely sure what your point is ?
