And also the Rich List is mostly guesswork. There's no way a Sunday paper has the staff properly to research 1000 different people (and many more, to rule them out). Interns and work experience people will put most of it together, with the business staff maybe concentrating on the top 100 or so.

You can and they are. There are many, many people wealthier than those that appear in the list.....they either choose to keep it quiet, and/or have their wealth in private companies/structures. The amounts in the list are also very rough estimates in most cases.

Totally agree.

In addition they would not have the time and resources to carry out 100,000's of Land Registry searches (commercial and residential), each year, then put a rough value on each one. No way of knowing about real estate owned overseas, or interests in companies registered in the BVI, Panama, Isle of Man, Caymans, Israel, etc.

Same reason as I don't, I just don't let ANYONE know how filthy stinking rich I really am!! I have no need to, my house and car just says it all............
