Am l the only person scared of Falmer?.

l mean, over the years, despite its many failings, l've become sooo attached to Withdean. lts, nice and safe, and l've bonded so well with my seat. Falmer is big and brash and not nearly so friendly. l might get lost wiithin its many corridors and stairwells.

Plus of course its going to be a rush to get back to central Brighton for my last bus home at 6pm ... the real reason! lol

I went to Cowfold once, lovely place- crossroads type place, blink and you miss it- has two dodgy pubs.

I don't think Falmer will be unwelcoming, allegedly it might be one of the most welcoming stadiums around in terms of the internal works.

Yes. You are the only person I would have thought.

I am bored and tired of Withdean.

The only thing I will miss about Withdean is the start/end of the season matches drenched in sun, watching football, and enjoying an ice cream.

I empathise with this, on some WEIRD level.

OBVIOUSLY we are all terribly excited about Falmer, and it will be a THOUSAND times better than Withdean, in every way, BUT Withdean is OUR shithole, and we have had some good times there.

I'll miss being able to set off on foot TEN minutes before kick-off, with no bus/train hassles, too.

I find myself in some strange agreement with you in some ways.

Withdean is absolutely *not* a football stadium - it never will be, but I like the feeling of openness of the place when it's bathed in sunshine and we are winning, but it's certainly NO match to a proper cauldron of a ground where you get the chills up your spine as you ascend the stairs and the pitch slowly comes into view.

One thing I do like about Withdean is the fact you can meet your mates and watch the last few moments of the game on the running track - on a nice day is better than being crammed into a tiny concourse.

You obviously weren't there for the last game of last season - freezing b****y cold and pissing with rain!:sheep::sheep:

I'm scared it might be the new Weston Homes Community Stadium, where the cars are louder on the dual carriageway outside than the fans inside the stadium

Obviously looking forward to Falmer....just hope the matter of transport and getting to and from the ground doesn't prove a pain in the arse!

I am not scared at going to Falmer. Can't wait in fact but I do wonder if sometime in the future I will feel nostalgic about Withdean, "The Theatre of Trees". We have been through a great deal there what with promotion and relegation battles, the weather.
I just hope I get as good a view of the pitch at Falmer as I do in my South Stand seat at Withers.
Have to accept as well that getting to and from Falmer will take more time than dear old Withers but hey that's a small price to pay for moving into our new home.

I always used to find in the pissing rain that the saving grace would be winning! I remember a match against Millwall in 2008 I think it was, I don't think I've ever been so wet at a football match before, but we absolutely thrashed them that day, 4-1. The rain didn't matter anymore as we were celebrating constantly, and I remember plenty of Wall fans leaving at half time :lolol: Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch.

Whether people like it or not, Withdean is going to be a part of the club's history. Lest we forget, we beat Man City there, and had historic days/nights which again contributed significantly to the club's history. The one night in particular that will always stand out was THAT play off second leg against Swindon. Again it was pissing down with rain and it was an extremely unpleasant evening, but never will I forget the hoards of people running back into the ground after Virgo's equaliser, and I certainly won't be forgetting going ape shit on the pitch after Gurney missed.
