I'm in desperate need something to look forward to

For personal reasons, I'm not going to go into here, I really need a 'pick-me-up'.

I have an ideal once in a life time trip, I could arrange for Sept.
It will take plenty of mind occupying planning, oohh and I do love holiday planning.

The problem is, I'd need to book the whole thing on a credit card, without repaying (in full) for quite some time.

Do I ignore the 'state of the world', assume being a postie is for life not just Christmas, & extend my current CC repayments for a further year or two, for the sake of my current well being and state of mind.

I really want to jump right in, but just don't seem able to take the first step.

Sometimes current circumstances, irrespective of any wider picture, make it necessary to do something like this. Better to do it than look back and wonder why you didn't.

I would say "go for it and enjoy every moment". Would a personal loan work out cheaper than putting it on your credit card, or maybe do one of those no interest balance transfers?

I know it's a time worn cliche but you're only here once, life is not a rehearsal and, who knows, you just don't know who you might meet on your trip who might change your life forever. have had similiar crossroads a few times in my life, have gone for it, and never regetted it in the slightest.
however,
i do quite often find myself back in the same old situation as before, so i guess it doesn't really sort out any fundamental problems, but still, it gives you a good break and a helluva good time,

As others have said, you only live once.

My dad died in 1968, aged 32, and never got to do any of the stuff he'd planned; I've always had the attitude "live for today, plan for tomorrow" so I currently have a bit of savings/investments and a decent(ish) pension but I also stretch myself to have a couple of holidays a year and a couple of nights out each week.

Thing is, can you cover the debt you will create and by the way you have said it no.

So you will then have a debt that perhaps you intend to pay off in a year or so but what happens during that time - you could lose your job, a huge unexpected house bill occurs etc etc.

I think what I am saying is other things may well get in the way of paying this and before you know it the repayment takes 5 years.

Have a long think about it but if you do get an interest free credit card as some are 15 months so at least you will not pay interest.

I was given some bad financial advise a good few years, and ended up carrying a decent amount of debt, in the wrong places.
When I realised what was happening, I juggled things around and have been switching 0%'s ever since, while making good repayments.
Well this time next year, it's all done and dusted, and although it's been no hardship, so adding another 18 months, in theory, shouldn't be a problem, it would give the debt a feel of never ending.

But this time next year seems like a very very long way away.
