They like comrade Lenin and Trotsky though.. So why is it that its ok to try and link the BNP to nazi germany then but not the socialist party to the soviet union
Think you'll find that they see Stalin as the betrayer of the Soviet revolution and therefore rejected it after 1929. Remember the old SWP slogan 'Neither Washington nor Moscow but International Socialism'.
It's Scottish Labourites like John Reid and the old Morning Star 'Tankies' that have history with Uncle Joe.

I haven't been bothered to read the entire thread, but if someone could explain why being anti-BNP and serious about politics must necessarily mean being anti-EU, could they explain it for me please?

There are fifteen choices on the ballot sheet, at least 4 of them are anti-Europe, it will be a shame that the vote is diluted.

Be fair though, its hard to keep up with all the splits, new parties, sub groups and front groups on the far left. Peoples Front of Judea or Popular Front of Judea (splitters) and all that.

As I got off the train this evening a young lady shoved a newsletter in my hand on behalf of a party who's only policy was to act as a protest vote AGAINST the BNP.
Now I thought this seemed a bit silly, being as there are more than enough alternatives and I don't tend to take the BNP threat very seriously, certainly not in these parts anyway HOWEVER one thing did catch my eye in the material they were peddling.
Hitler rose to power on the back of SEVERE economic collapse leading to widespread disillusionment with mainstream political parties.
Right now we are struggling through a period of economic uncertainty (although admittedly it's nothing like on the same scale as pre-war Germany) and public support for our MP's seems to be dropping at an alarming rate on a daily basis.
I am starting to wonder whether there really is a danger of the BNP winning a seat on the European parliament, representing the south east.
Would certainly be a wake up call for a lot of people, and a very dark day for politics

This seams true. But we have a system that stops dictators (usless there is civil war and we get rid of the monarchy) happen. The monarch can stop it.
Hitler was elected as Chancerler. This is still the German version of PM, not the head of state. Hitler forced the german president to hand over power.
This is why, in our system of government, i will never suport a President. I will always suport the MOnarch. Puley because they are taught about what is right and wrong about government type things. We will Never have a dictator in this country. The only time we have.......Cromwell.
