I have read this thread right through and I cannot believe what I am reading having never studied what the 1901 club is all about as I am not likely to be able to afford any ST(when I do arrive in the Brighton area I will have to buy individual ticket to watch)I cannot believe that you cannot wear trainers and you have to wear a collar with your shirt what the fqqk has happened to our club all those who have departed this world who used to grace the East stand at the Goldstone for that matter any of the stands will be turning in their graves FFS football is a working class game or have we overnight turned into MU.
I used to stand on the East terrace with people who had rushed to watch their team straight from work on Saturdays and at night games overalls, work shoes and oil dirty faces just glad to be with like minded fans and friends.

So I can assume from this me turning up with a tee-shirt and trainers will not be good enough it always was good enough so why have things changed so much

Money. Very very sad state of affairs but football is a business to everyone except the fans. We are not even customers in many of their eyes, assets of the business (club) most likely! I truly think with Bloom etc. we have it better than 95% of clubs though.

I think you'll find they are not "Our seats". the seats were purchased by a 1901 club member, probably for entertaining customers, they do not belong to Albion fans.

What people seem to be forgetting is the 1901 was never really intended to be a Home fans section, it was always for corporate entertaining, no-one really anticipated the demand from normal fans wishing to spoil themselves after all the years at Withers.

Never really intended to be a home fans section....are you for real? Out of our 8 seats together, all the lease agreements are owned by Albion fans and are always sat in by Albion fans. No mention at sale that away fans would be sitting next to or in front of me at any of the games.

On Friday I had a mouthy Leeds fan to my left and on Tuesday a Palace fan to the right of me, one row in front who chose to jump up and gesture.....why the hell should we be subjected to away fans jumping up and down and being condescending to the Albion when we are losing?? When I told the Palace fan to show some respect at the end of the game as he was in the home end I was told to f@~k off by him, then I had name and seat number taken.

Over 25 successive years I have been a season ticket holder, followed the Albion all over this country and abroad and notched up nearly 1400 loyalty points so far….as others around me. Sick of hearing about the commitment of Albion fans in the 1901 crowd.

No home shirts allowed but away fans can come on in.

You are missing my point, I didn't say it was not intended for Home fans, It is not solely for home fans or maybe I didn't make that clear.

And I've never said that jumping up and down celebrating a goal by whatever opposition was acceptable either. In fact it's the height of rudeness and shows a distinct lack of respect to not only the host but to the Club.

I am not a 1901 member, but there is no doubt in my mind that over 90% of you are 'dyed in the wool' fans who have long supported the Albion. I strongly suspect that the overwhelming majority of 1901 members bought their seats there, because they are simply the best situated seats in the ground....backed up by very good facilities if you wish to use them. To not be allowed to wear colours etc etc etc is truly ridiculous....and to have those pikeys from up the road in your seating area is the final insult to some of our most genuine and long standing/suffering Albion supporters.

right long rant coming up, im in the 1901 and now realise it to be a 30/70 % split between proper fans and corportate, ive only just calmed down after tue, now we have all been corporate fans in away grounds before where weve had to sit on our hands, not cheer etc etc, but on tuesday when they equalised a few fans jumped up cheering shouting etc, now you can imagine what happened next, a near riot, but what did our stewards say rather than kick them out, nothing we can do sir they are CORPORATE!!!!!! us real fans even got asked to come up the back by some twat in a suit to ask us to tone it down!!! now imagine if that at happened at millwall/leeds and do u think we would have got away with it. thoughts pls

thats funny... i'm in 1901 ( 30 year long season ticket holder so consider myself a real fan) a palace supporter jumped up when they scored and was escorted out!!!

I was right next to them and they were mainly Palace youth team and other parts of their staff. To be honest if it was our yooof team up at Palace they would probably do the same. Coporate means corporate for both teams up there at present. I'd be more worried about being charged £38 for a fish and chip buffet service that is resulting in more and more cororates giving up on the food hence reducing the cash flowing into the club!

All I can say is that you must have a very sad and pathetic life for this to be a big issue for you. Its a football match. If an opposing fan wants to cheer for their team and celebrate the goals, good luck to them. Its a shame that the club have to have a policy regarding away fans celebrations, to protect them from home 'fans' with this moronic attitude.

Merged your new thread with this one. But I agree it's bloody ridiculous.

With regard the true fan/corporate split though I would say it is a much higher real fan proportion than that, maybe 60:40 real fan/corporate.

But you have to be realistic, in most football grounds in England this would cause a problem. Yes it would be nice if we could all sit together having a great time admiring the football between our two teams. And perhaps with some teams this could be achieved. But this was a Palace match which matters greatly to lots of people. It is therefore ridiculous to suggest that mixing supporters and allowing them to celebrate is sensible.

I with Giraffe and others on this. I sat very close to all this on Tuesday and I'm not 1901 that's the point this corporate area is not separate like the 1901's in the West Stand. If an away fan is celebrating in a box or on a different tier that's different to being amongst you.

Before the season began I asked the club about stewarding policy for away fans celebrating in homes areas and the reply was .. ' It is club policy that we do not allow visiting fans in home areas, so if they identify themselves they will be politely asked to leave'. So having a seat in a home area the seat immediately behind you is not a home area!

If nothing else for games like Tuesdays the low tolerance applied to home fans in that part of East Stand should extend to this type of behaviour.
