What reasons would you leave the Albion for if you played for them?

On the thread about player loyalty some people claimed that most people on here would, if they played for the albion, leave for more money.

I can honestly say that I would not leave Brighton for anything. If they were playing a decent standard of football and paying me a decent wage, well, I would be playing for the club I love and earning more then I would be doing any other job. What reason could there be for jumping ship?

As a loyalty-free professional footballer, any of the above reasons would be fine sadly. That's just how it is these days:nono:

I personally would find it diffucult to leave cos I love the club and have family round here etc, but if a stonkingly huge offer came in, who knows?

tbh question is a bit biased. Ask a group of brighton fans if they would leave them is like asking if you would stop playing for England to play for Germany. Me know i wouldnt, thats becasue to me football is an escape from real life. If however it was my job then i cannot say i would have the same feelings. We all want to get to the top in our chosen jobs.

As said elsewhere,WE wouldn't go.
But professional football players try to make as much as possible in their short time on the pitch.
There is no club loyalty in any of them, just the 'wedge' factor.

Dunno, but if I ended up leaving, then I'd have it written into my new clubs contract that I could pull out of any game against Brighton.

If you were a professional footballer chances are you wouldn't be so much of a fan as you'd have spent your time playing rather than going to games.

Hypothetical question really

How come players aren't supposed to change jobs like anybody else? They got mortgages, families to support, short playing careers etc. Certainly in the case of the Albion the only players showing any kind of loyalty are the ones that other clubs ain't exactly falling over themselves to sign.

imo the offer of playing in the premiership & doubling your wages probably outweighs anything in even the most loyal of players.

clubs arent necessarily loyal either. we have been but so many fans view that as stupidity.so you could be a loyal player out on the dole cos you dont wanna leave the club but they dont want you.
it would depend on contracts for me. length just as much £££, I mean, even if my career nose dived. I'd rather be at the albion with a 4 year deal than at a bigger club on say 1 or 2 years.

i figure i would be on decent money if i was hoping to play for england. so international prospects only.
or i would leave donny rovers for only 1 team (brighton) or international prospects.

Depends on my age and capabilities, If I was young and very good then it would be to team looking to go up to a better league offering more money.

Otherwise, in any other case as long as I was getting a wage then no I wouldn't leave.

Good thread.

I fully expected Gerrard to stay at Liverpool for the simple reason he is a Liverpool fan.

If Brighton were 4th in the premiership and paying me £70k a week, why would you leave to play for another team for another 30k a week ?

I wouldnt even consider it.

None because I'm a BHA fan and have been brought up that way. Most footballers have a fave team but are professional and would leave for whatever reason...but being a diehard fan I could NEVER leave the Albion!

It's a tricky one. A footballer's career can end any time if they pick up a serious injury, so they have to take a short term view about where they can earn their money.

As a not very good player I would go to Palace so they could waste their money on me, leaving the Albion to spend their money wisely elsewhere.
