With the pandemic and the Euros there has been very little break between seasons and I can see a lot of injuries this season and we already have a few players who are regulars on the treatment table. Whilst our goal scoring so far has been decent it is still an area that needs strengthening and we are short at both LB and RB.

If we don’t sign anyone else despite the good start I can see us struggling again.

Thought Saturday summed up how light we are when Maupay had to go off. Connolly is regularly injured and not that good, Welbeck is a walking sick note. We need to sign.

Sarmiento’s name gets mentioned as a signing
He doesn’t seem to be either training g with the first team or appearing for the u-23’s
Am I missing something?

He & Baluta seem to have disappeared

Right now more concerned that Biss stays than anyone else coming in. Lamptey and Burn coming back to fitness sooner rather than later would be useful, but yeah, happy with what we have.

Yes, we do seem to have the odd disappearance, don't we - signed for us, loaned back, or loaned out somewhere obscure in Europe (or in the case of Billy Arce, South America), never to be seen agaim. Like Kacper Lopata - just signed a deal at Sheffield United and playing in the EFL cup. Came to us and went without anybody even noticing, or being aware of his existance (except AZGull, of course!)

Honestly, I'm past caring if Nunez or Cucurella sign. Frankly Cucurella didn't look that special at the Olympics and certainly no better than Solly, so if he's a LWB, he won't be a starter in his favoured position. As for Nunez, we seem keen, but is he ready to leave Benfica for us already? If we don't sign anybody else, I'm not that bothered, especially after watching the second string highlights against Cardiff.

Not a chance Biss will go this window, I’m guessing the fee would be £60-70m and we would reject the first few bids going by the BW deal.

I am not getting carried away with our start. We need another LWB and have for a while. We also need a striker and have for a while. We need to sort these 2 positions imo. We’ve cut the squad really well and sold white for a huge fee. So no, I wouldn’t be that happy…

Good Lord of course we need a striker and another defender. 2 wins against teams we should beat and who are likely to be in the bottom 5 by the end of the season doesn’t change that. The striker has been an aching gap for a couple of years now. A clinical finisher at the club, and I believe Nunez fits that bill, and we are top 10-ready . Otherwise, likely 41 points.

Ah, but these two results are ones we probably wouldn’t have got in previous seasons. We are notoriously poor against the strugglers. If they can keep that sort of form up against them, and continue to pick up the occasional result against the cream then we will have our best season ever. Slowly slowly catchy monkey.
Whilst it would be nice to get a decent striker in to cover for major injury to Welbeck and Maupay, we do have fill ins, even if it’s Connolly or one of the 23s who should now be looking to get game time anyway.

We go into the 3rd game of the season with our 2 striking options as Connolly and zequiri . That is a bit of a joke isn’t it .

I’d still fear for us if we don’t get another striker in and should of been sorted way before the last week of deadline day really .

If it’s not Nunez which looks unlikely then hopefully someone will come in as our striking options are not good enough for a long prem season

Both Maupay and Welbeck are due back for Brentford or possibly Everton - Welbeck has been in training for a week - and we are looking to buy a striker before the window closes. It’s hardly a joke. What would you have done differently. ?

Happy enough with what we have and it seems Potter's remit of trying to bring players on and develop what he has is starting to bear fruit. Really pleased for some of the youngsters to get game time the other night which can only be a good thing.

Would like another forward option but the whole Nunez situation seems far too messy and drawn out for my liking. Would hate to be ripped off by Benfica who are trying to inflate his value after only one season. Sure though that Tony is too shrewd to go down that avenue.

If any fan on here wishes to stump up £30m of their own money and buy him for the club, then please feel free.

I think the option of a quick and direct winger is more important than the wing back situation. Not ideal, but with March, Veltman, Lamptey, plus all of Moder, Gross, Alzate and Mwepu we are well covered. I know we don't always have a winger starting, but a different option to try and break down a defence would be nice. Reiss Nelson would make sense, young, English and clearly very talented (unsure if we would offer him the amount of starts he probably wants). Wouldn't have minded if Khadra was going to be that option but seems to be off on loan.

Striker is still the priority and much needed given, Welbeck's fitness and and the inexperience of Zeqiri and Connolly.

Obviously a recognised wingback would be good as well if we can get one over the line.

So three in's required for me, but only one is a necessity. By necessity I mean to help us progress as a team. We'll be more than fine with what we have, but the whole point is to improve.

I've got no problem if we don't sign anyone else. Would like to get Cucurella over the line as he's really good and that signing alone will offer Potter multiple new options but I'm really not bothered if we sign a striker or anyone else.

We've got an excellent, strong squad with depth and a brilliant manager.

I think we're a little thin in a few areas and I think he club are looking to strengthen. If we don't it's not because they're not trying, it's because they're trying to get the right signings. It'll be a shame if we don't as this season could be the one we push on with a few more reinforcements.
