If we are serious about promotion, resting around 5 or 6 players saturday is a must.

We now have a chance to give a week or so off to players like Ulloa, Buckley, KLL, Bridcutt, Upson, etc.......

We are not going to win the FA cup, and if we got an injury to one of our key players in a 3rd round match, that is seriously bad club management.

I love the cup as much as the next man, but where the money and prestige is nowadays is the top division.

I would like to see March, JFC, etc all play, and all the big guns given a break.

Not sure I entirely agree. Ulloa sure, but KLL has hardly played recently and based on yesterday's performance might benefit from more game time.

Ulloa has stated he is not 100% match fit, so how would resting him help achieve that. After Saturday all the players will have a weeks break. The further we go in the cup, then financially, the better. Just rest any players with knocks imo.
A win and we are in the hat for a possible mouth watering tie.

We should rest Bridcutt (If he's still here) Pig, David and Upson. That should do.

You make sure you let Oscar know that. He must be bereft of ideas as to how his squad is functioning at present, and needs the input of someone whose finger is so sharply on the pulse.

If we want to avoid a replay we need to play our best team and not go at this half-heartedly.

Reading are decimated by injuries, particularly in the centre of defence. Their league form has suffered as a result and this is a decent time to play them.
Bridders will not play to avoid being cup-tied. As for the rest, you could make a case for Dunk replacing Upson and Chicksen coming in for Ward. Brez will be in goal. Andrews will play in front of the back four and the midfield will revolve around JFC, Agustien, Ince, Crofts, Orlandi and Lopez.
Ulloa needs game-time and must start and you'll have no width without KLL....so.....

Agree with that. But can we risk KLL getting a knock? We'd be left with zero wingers if that happened.

As always, that's the other side of the coin. It's a risk to rest and a risk not to rest. I'd veer towards giving those that have had a busy Christmas period a rest if needed. You'd probably think Reading are pretty much in the same boat.

The players will have a whole weeks rest after Saturday, and then another week after that before their next match. Apart from the fact the the cup is still a big deal, players are as likely to pick up a knock in a cup match as a league match. So no, resting players is not essential.

And Ulloa is the last player that needs a rest, given that he's hardly played since mid-September.

I would start with the same XI as yesterday or possibly Orlandi instead of Lua Lua and Agustein instead of Crofts then draw Spurs at home after they have beaten Arsenal.
