Equality of points after the group matches
If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings.
a) Higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question.
b) Superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question.
c) Higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question.
d) Higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question.
e) If, after applying criteria a) to d) to several teams, two or more teams still have an equal ranking, the criteria a) to d) will be reapplied to determine the ranking of these teams. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria f) and g) will apply.
f) Results of all group matches: 1. Superior goal difference 2. Higher number of goals scored 3. Higher number of goals scored away from home 4. Fair play conduct.
g) Drawing of lots.
Obviously, away matches is irrelevant, so it looks like Fair Play comes into it. In which case, Turkey would be f***ed every time.

Well head to head would be equal ( obviously ) and so would + column of goal difference.
Next step could well be drawing of the dreaded lots ?
Doubt they would go back to see who had best qualifying record, though that would be a damn site fairer.
Perhaps, FIFA will study footage of players' performance in national anthem singing ? Eurovision sing difference wins it

Thought as much; it's the old head head to head rule that decides first and foremost.
As you say, the away rule counts for bugger all in this case.
Hadn't thought about fair play. Any idea what the card count is so far ? And does the Galatasary " Welcome to Hell " boast have any bearing d'ya reckon ?

Turkey have six yellow cards so far czech republic one so as far as I can see If the teams draw czech republic would go through providing they get 4 or less yellow cards than Trkey. Don't know how the equation would change with a red card?

If Turkey and the Czech Republic draw their final Group A match in Geneva on Sunday, second place and a quarter-final berth will be decided on penalties.
Shoot-out chance
The Czech Republic lost 3-1 to Portugal on Wednesday evening and then Turkey beat Switzerland 2-1 – both after added-time goals. That leaves the Czech Republic and Turkey level on points, goal difference and goals scored, and according to Article 7.08 in the official 2008 UEFA European Championship regulations, in that instance, if the two equal teams are playing in the last game, their match is decided by spot-kicks after 90 minutes should it finish level.

Well I see UEFA are now bending the rules. The reason that Czech Republic are currently above Turkey is that they have a better coefficient, as set out in the official rules for the tournament. As said above I have just seen a report saying there will be a penalty shoot-out if the match between the 2 finishes all square.
I understand why they are doing it (to stop the Czech's playing for a draw) but the rules are set out before the competition to which all teams play to, so I reckon it is a tad unfair on the Czech Republic.

Are the Czech's geniunely above Turkey or is it just that websites have it this way as C comes before T in the alphabet. As this is what occurs when two teams have exactly the same record i.e. points, goal difference, goals for and against etc.

To answer your question and according to UEFA's rules from their website, yes the Czech's are genuinely above the Turks.
These are the official rules for Euro 2008 group stages:
If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings.

b) Superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question.
c) Higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question.
d) Superior goal difference in all the group matches
e) Higher number of goals scored in all the group matches
f) Coefficient from the qualifying competitions for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and 2006/08 UEFA European Football Championships (points obtained divided by the number of matches played)
g) Fair play conduct of the teams (final tournament)
h) Drawing of lots
A & B are irrelevant because they are yet to play each other and C to E have no bearing because the 2 teams records are identical. This brings us to the coefficient which the Czech Republic's is much better...In fact Turkey has one of the worst coeffecient rating in the whole tournament so technically as it stands the Czech's are above Turkey.
So we could have the silly situation whereby if the game finishes up a draw the Turks could qualify for the quarter-finals despite this being in contradiction to the rules!!
