He might win the Masters Series title in a couple of weeks, think I'm right in thinking it's being played somewhere in London.

"We" prefer a loser to a winner. Any successful Brit gets tarred with the "arrogant" brush when, infact, it's just that they're f***ing GOOD

WELL DONE ANDY!

I seem to recall Mohammed Ali was quite full of himself. Arrogant in the extreme in fact.

And yet history remembers him as a sporting hero.

How many serious sporting greats are genuinely humble and play down their achievements?

I think to be truly top of your game you do need a certain arrogance.

Tiger Woods knows he's the best and isn't afraid to admit it. Federer's years of dominance were accompanied by a certain cocky swagger. And what about Pele?

I'm delighted Murray's proving his doubters wrong and I couldn't give a shit that:
a) He's Scottish
and
b) He's so good he's starting to believe his own hype and isn't afraid to show it.

He has every right to be arrogant when he's beating people left, right and centre. He's defeated the only two players ranked above him in the world in the last 3 months and that is pretty good going by my books.

Long may his success continue

I'm a massive critic of Andy Murray. Not for his ability mind, for all I know (or care) he may be very good. He's just an absolute tool.

He didn't "slag off" England, he merely pointed out that he wouldn't be cheering them on in the football, being as he's Scottish.

What's wrong with that?

I don't cheer on the Scottish as an Englishman

Didn't Murray slag of England?

not REALLY

he was replying to a journo who was taking the piss out of scotland

i know its only wikipedia but:

Murray identifies himself as "Scottish, but also British".[4][5] Prior to Wimbledon 2006, Murray caused some public debate[55] when he was quoted as saying he would "support anyone but England" at the 2006 World Cup. He received large amounts of hate mail on his website as a result.[56] It was also reported that Murray had worn a Paraguay shirt on the day of England’s World Cup match with the South American team.[57]

Murray explained that his comments were said in jest in response to provocation from Englishmen who asked him if he would be supporting Scotland in the World Cup, in the knowledge that Scotland had failed to qualify for the tournament.[58] Murray protested that he is "not anti-English and never was"[4] and he expressed disappointment over England's subsequent elimination by Portugal.[59] In an interview with Nicky Campbell on BBC Radio 5 Live, Tim Henman confirmed that the remarks had been made in jest and were only in response to Murray being teased by a journalist and Henman.[60] He also stated that as far as he was aware the rumour that Murray had worn a Paraguay shirt was untrue.[60]

In an interview with Gabby Logan for the BBC's Inside Sport programme, Andy said that he was both Scottish and British and was comfortable and happy with his British identity.[61] He said he saw no conflict between the two and was equally proud of them. He has also pointed out that he is quarter English with some of his family originating from Newcastle, his coach is English and that his girlfriend, Kim Sears, is English

:lol::lol:

I've heard it all know. Comparing Ali to Murray. Ali, albeit arrogant had amazing personality, charm, energy, and entertainment, you wanted to hear the man speak and you'd never get bored of hearing him speak.

Murray has absolutely NONE of the above, he's rude, moody, and can barely be arsed to even attempt to respond when he's spoken too. And he's Scottish.
