Yeah, as I said to someone else, stating 'I won't be responsible for my actions' to me is digging someone out.

Agree with the rest, but also once theyve been selected and pull the shirt on, they should get unequivocal backing, not toys out of the pram.
At what point does "unequivocal backing' cease?

He said he’s in East Upper, so I suspect it’s loud tutting with the option of angrily waving a library card
Edna and Ethel were waving their knickers at Steele when he made a great save not so long ago. It could be what has affected his performances.

Late to the party (-ies), but IF Steele does play, I would like him starting a bit further out, sharper to any through-balls. I feel he's played too deep this season. In possession, he should be a third CB if he's that good with the ball.

Apologies if it’s been covered, but who has started more games in Europe so far? I feel like it’s been Steele, comfortably, but might be wrong.

If he picks Steele over Bart, then he might as well play him in midfield and put a cardboard cutout between the posts. It would probably do a better job at shot stopping.

Also, If he does pick Steele, RDZ can have no come backs against Bloom when he fires him at the end of the season, which I suspect might happen, for the same reason Gus was disposed of.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but why can't we, y'know, just get behind all the players (whoever they are) that are picked by RDZ for each game?

I'm sorry if that sounds totally non-sensationalist and terribly dull, but that's just how I ROLE

This is what I think as well.

It's totally fine to prefer one keeper or the other, or whatever position

But, as seems to be the case in the modern world, these threads are transcending conversations about preference and heading towards vitriol. Why has everyone got to think they know better than everyone else to the degree they can start slagging off our own players?

Fine if you think Verbruggen should be starting. Actually, I do as well, but I'm not going to start calling Steele a hologram or someone who may as well not be there if he gets picked.

To be clear also, i'm totally fine with slating our players, if they clearly can't be bothered, or they down tools, or they are just obviously obnoxious. That doesn't apply to Jason Steele

Surely you want to see our strongest line up possible out on the pitch? I want a goal keeper that makes saves and more. Importantly commands his area unfortunately Steele struggles with both.

These stats are all well and good but don't they all ignore the fact there are 10 other players on the pitch for our team!

Personally, I see little difference between the two, where one shines in one area the other shines in another. Bart's distribution is frightening and against Forest very nearly cost us and in other games it has.

Please can someone pull some stats for comparison.
Won, lost, drawn and goals conceded for all games this season for JS vs BV

Might help put this debate to bed ...
No it won't - there will still be those who say we need a proper shot-stopper, like the ones that regularly prevent us scoring, while others will still argue, yes but - he's better with his feet.

If RDZ thinks it's the right thing to do, that's fine with me.

By the way, does the 'more' bit in 'makes saves and more' include giving away possession while Fannying Around At The Back™ that leads to a goal being conceded?Because Bart is certainly winning in that respect, I'll give him that. Probably something to do with him being a young keeper, with room for improvement, which is possibly why there is a more than capable (despite some people's opinions on here and elsewhere) who shares the spot with him.

I don't remember, (though it would be easy to forget) a keeper ever coming in for just one game this season. It's always been two, or sometimes three.

So if the pattern continues, Bart starts against Roma, Steele back in for the next league game
A totally novel suggestion l grant you, but how about having one first choice keeper, and another as a back up?

I wonder if that's ever been tried before?

I actually think RDZ needs to set us up differently to whoever he selects in goal. The keepers are key in deZerbi ball, so with the keepers having different abilities (foot distribution, and defence/saves/commanding the box) he should set us up appropriately in midfield and defence to get the best out of their strengths, but mitigate their weaknesses.
