A fair few people get affronted, feeling that we don't get enough credit or media coverage compared to the "big clubs".

I largely disagree with this - we seem to be media darlings, to a degree, but I'm also accepting that we're just never going to get coverage on a par with the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd.

However, I was positively FUMING this evening when, on 5Live, they said the subject of this thread, completely ignoring us in the reckoning at the top of the table. Tossers.

Up the Hammers!

This is what we’re up against.

With respect, a few articles here and there doesn't make any difference.

The problem is the undercurrent of Big Six Bias in all major media orgs (and beyond).
Media doesn't have any intrinsic power to change anything whatsoever, so it never makes a difference unless people decide it should.

"The problem" is that things that have success get popular, and when they get popular people want more of it, and when people want more of it, more of it is produced.

Average journo at the average media corp needs to eat food so he writes about something people give a f*** about (Liverpool) rather than something people don't give a f*** about (Brighton).

"The problem" of us not getting a bunch of worthless articles written about us can be resolved by winning a few trophys.

Long may it continue. Lots of media coverage only brings pressure, let’s do our business on the quiet. Also at the end of the day all the clubs around us have far bigger fan bases so hardly surprising they are targeting where they have the biggest likely returns of readership.

I think this season more than any other we've gone under hyped. But there's a few good reasons for this. We haven't got a standout player to hype beyond Welbeck, nobody quote knows our style, and the league is very tight. Win the next couple though and I'm sure we'll be all over it again.
If Pedro remains injury free, he will soon be being billed as our stand out performer by the media.

At this moment (Newcastle being 0-2 down) if they score a goal they would go above Fulham into 9th, but they would still be 1 point behind Villa, Forest and Spurs.

They will also still be 4 points behind Arsenal and Chelsea and 5 points behind Man City.

I must say - I hadn't fully assimilated until this thread that we are only fifth instead of third because of goal difference. I'm still finding it all quite hard to take in.

Just enjoying every minute of it for what it is at the moment. To be in the top six at Christmas would be a dream, but we’ve got a lot of work to do and will need our fair share of luck with decisions, injuries and the bounce of the ball.
