I have absolutely been delighted with our end of season form, especially considering how bad we were when went upto Walsall on Tuesday night (i think) i thought that we looked a team that had given up on staying up.
But have been very impressed with the Teams attitude in the last 6 games or so, especially the Bristol Rovers and Huddersfield games, was both very good gutsy performances and deserved points we got from.
Of course our support has been the usual superb high, i love going to away games sooo much more than Home as the atmosphere and more togetherness show as fans.
Anyway i thought id come on here and say my plans if i was manager for what do next season, if we stayed up.
I will go through our whole squad even loan players and say what think of etc, if care.
Kuipers - Legend for the club and id definately keep - STAY
Whing - Our best player i believe and we have to get on new contract - KEEP
Mayo - as much as hurts to say as been great having him here, we have to say goodbye to now - CUT
Hinshelwood - When fit, is one of our best techincal players - Keep
Lynch - Not sure what situation is, as i know Forest have been playing him virtually all year, but again another good player, i would try and get back here - Keep
Al Abd - Gutsy- hard worker and what see is what get, can be a bit prone to errors especially in defence, i believe best position in front of back four, id keep purely as good team player - Keep
Cox - Can still be lazy but has the potential to put in lovely crosses, just shame he can never beat a man one on one - Keep
Jarrett - I think got to give time as signed him, put in a couple of good performances and some stinkers but id give chance again next season - Keep
Forster - Defo gotta keep id also offer him a role as Player coach for next season - Keep
Birchall - Not seen to be honest play for us, but of what know and seen of him, i think he could be a good asset to us - Keep
McLeod - I was sooo happy when we signed him at the beginning of year, also Iwuelemu - said he will score you goals and set up a lot, he looks naturally talented player on the ball but just one of these players that seems a wasted position on - CUT
Heath - i know a loan player but i thought was at the spine of our errors in some games played in and im pleased no longer playing - cut
Sullivan - Showed some real promise in some games played a good understudy to Kuipers - also nice to see been given some games this season at last - Keep
Livermore - Again another player looked at and thought what a great signing would be, i have never seen a worse performance by a player than the game vs Walsall away he was dreadful, also bad attitude had his hands on his hips most of the time and didnt seem to give a damn - also got sent off in big game vs Luton - cut
Hart - I have changed my mind on what do with Hart, its been great to see thw old Harty back and his position is definately Centre forward as feels more involved in game and can be his usual pain in arse- wind up defenders and can be a have a big influence on a game still - as saw with 2 beauitufl assets VS Bristo R - keep
Hawkins - Looked good in Pre-season but looks past it - 2 slow - Cut
Murray - a real class act, i believe is properly our 2nd best player with Whing - gotta build our team around these 2 players - keep
Loft - Not bad player but not a starter, kind of player useful to have in squad and on bench - id keep for that reason and has worked hard in good end of season run - keep
Robinson - Have to often believed he would come on due to his such early young promise but in my opinion is to much the poser and to bothered before game doing all fancy tricks, - still a kid vs his performances and reason id sell to Aldershot - cut
McNulty - Cant believe we got this guy, real shame with bad injury got and be interesting to see how reacts to - as again another class player with Whing and Murray - keep
Dixon - Hasnt done nothing for us, looks clumsy when does come on - worth taking a chance on but time is up - cut
Fraser - Has worked hard this year for us but i just think is very average your usual conference player - doesnt have a clue positional wise or when to play pass and because scored a goal recently has been attempting shots from 30 yards and mucking up potential good positions - fans chatted to at games and hear shout seem to agree with me on this - CUT
Virgo - Another player bit under performed this year but since been made Captain has stepped upto the plate a bit - Keep
Elphick - Very good defender at times, still makes errors but another good player to keep and base defence around - keep
Davies - Wish some fans would lay off him, he is young, paid money for him, and come in relagation team with no confidence, what do you expect, yes he looks raw talent but our success of buying strikers has been to a high standard, eg zamara, Forster, Revell, Murray, even Elder - made a profit on - keep the faith in - believe may come good - keep
Andrew - for a Palace player showing really amazing attitude and has been exceptional in last 2 away games, - i would try and keep him if poss dependent upon how much want and also a poss downside is if murray and forster and davies fit and Owusu fit how often would he play a part oh yes and famous Harty. - unsure of - properly keep
Dicker - not bad player but feel we really need a bit better quality in midfield - cut - i know only loan player anyway
Carole - not good end product can beat a man in non dangerous areas but how many assets, goals ? - cut
Wills, Louis, Royce, Pearson, Cook, Gargan, Brinkurst Pelling, - not seen enough of to make judgement
Owusu - Fans love him and has got the goals - also seems to like club and would be a good asset to our squad - id attempt to keep and swap around next year with Forster - keep
Banguara - average midfielder - cut - i know a loanee
Andersen - on loan keeper, didnt have much confidence in when saw play and nor did the defence it look - cut
Borrowdale - Good on loan left back, attempt to keep unless can get Richards back full time - keep

Hope you like my write up, was long but wanted to see what other people think, i feel our big weakness is midfield, we dont take a strangle hold on the game and i feel only Cox is really worthy of staying in, id consider going into the market and buying a good midfielder from League 2 side who done well, take a chance on a couple of kids who get cut from premier league sides in summer and get bit of speed, creativity to this midfield, not players like Livermore who are past it.
Forwards and Defence just i believe needs training and some confidence building.
Regarding Slade - im still in 2 minds if could do a long term job for us and move us upto level a City like Brighton should have - and which Falmer will show our club as no longer a mickey mouse club which been perceived to be via playing at Withdean.
oh yes did everyone see the book come out called 501 must see Cities - Brighton was in it as one of them - come on.
Hope enjoy my opinion.

i respect you have took all the time to do that but some of the players you have said cut to i dont agree on ..
if we could , we should keep dicker and al-bangura . 2 quality midfielders
and so is fraser & carole
and i know murray is a good striker but i dont think 2nd best player to be honest .
yeah whing is quality and probably best this season but 2nd best could go to lots of players such as ..
owusu , hart , virgo , kuipers & sullivan , forster ...........
i know hart and owusu havent been playing much this season but what they have played they are different class .

and fair play to you for doing all of that just had to comment on a few things ! :)

jarrett and birchall to me dont seem interested. they have quality and pedigree but cant be assed to show it , and if you ask me thats half the reason we are where we are at the moment. also the main reason why we look like we'll get out of it is the likes of dicker and fraser harrying in the midfield. they care and put in performances to match. the fraser question is funny cos alot of people dont like him . personally i think hes good, covers well , great engine and supports defence and attack. yes hes technically a bit short but hopefully he can get better.

just my take like

Thank you for comments, interesting to see what people think to my comments on players and plans etc, thats what makes football such a great game and Danny boy, good comments and agree with you in a way about jarrett and fraser and Dicker, just i think Jarrett deserves another chance, id like to see how he plays at the beginning of next year, of course expect improvement, like you said mostly in attitude.

This is a thread asking for opinions, so I'm going to give mine, it's expected. (You know who you are.)

My squad for next season would be;
Goalkeepers - Kuipers and Sullivan.
Defenders - McNulty, Whing, Hinshelwood, Elphick, Virgo + Amankwaah (Swindon), Frampton (Millwall) and Craddock (Wolves),
Midfielders - Cox, Loft, Dicker + Robson (Hartlepool), Collins (Huddersfield), Grant (Southend) and Timlin (Swindon)
Forwards - Murray, Forster, Hart, Davies, Gargan.

I would be very happy with that squad.

Ninja Elephant, that sounds a interesting team and i see you have made most changes in midfield, i think that squad would definately win you the league one title, but i personally dont think we would be able to make that many signings, but i agree with the players you mentioned and is the kind of players we should be linked with, i always believe each year should take some chance buys eg conference or league two players, that buy for smaller fee, taking chance that go onto bigger and better things.
Ps Great news that Northampton lost today, now that have a very hard game vs Leeds

Have to keep Dicker, has looked class in the defensive role. Would also try and keep Bangura think he would rip this league apart and can do a good job at a higher level. Would offer Owusu a rolling deal superb back up to Murray and Forster with Davies. We must keep Whing though before him we were without a right back and there are not many around as good as him at this level

I'd keep Hinshelwood on - possibly a six-month deal

Birchall won't play for the Albion again and will be gone soon enough, same with Jarrett.

Keep: Kuipers/Sullivan - Would maybe like to see Sullivan get a full season of Conference or League Two if any would take him. Kuipers has not been so good this season so maybe look for a real (younger) competitor.

Keep: Whing, Elphick, Lynch, McNulty, Hinshelwood
Maybe controversial but if I could keep Lynch and get money for Virgo I would.
Get rid of El-Abd, Mayo, and Hawkins.

Midfield is the area most in need of changes. I think Dicker has come very good after a slow start and would sign him in a flash. Rest of the loanees/short terms can go (and fatty McLeod). The only one I'm not sure about is Carole, who was brilliant to start with but fell away under White and has not had a look in under Slade. Despite the oft repeated "no end product" claim he set up loads of goals. I think he's worth a short term offer to try and get something from him. Fraser and Loft have done well in the diamond roles, maybe worth keeping for cheap backup, we need to sign at least two players for the middle though, Dicker is one.
Keep: Cox, Dicker, MAYBE Livermore, Fraser, Loft

Keep: Forster, Murray, Owusu, Davies
The rest can go.

From the original list, I have a few points. I don't understand how anyone can keep Jarrett and Birchall and not keep Dicker. He has been key in recent games. There is no point in worrying about the loanees, except Owusu and Dicker, or Lynch as I imagine they will not be staying. I think we will also have to keep McLeod, Hawkins and Livermore as they all have a year left and hopefully we can get more out of them in their second season (like Guy Butters after his first season when some fans on here would have definitely released him). Other than that I agree with most of what you say but hopefully the club will act quickly to appoint Slade and he will act quickly with the squad changes he wants.

Murray on form is, in my opinion, our best player (although if we saw McNulty for longer than five games that may change). Whing has had a great run and will deservedly be player of the year but I don't think he is our best player. I really hope we keep him after this season though.

I would KEEP:
GKs - Michel, Sullivan
DFs - Whing, Elphick, Virgo, McNulty, Lynch
MFs - Cox, Dicker (permanent deal), Loft, McLeod, Livermore
FWs - Murray, Forster, Davies, Owusu/Hart

I would RELEASE:
- Mayo, Fraser, Hinshelwood, Carole, Jarrett, Birchall

I would look to SELL (for free obviously):
- El Abd, Hawkins, Dixon

I would then SIGN:
- 1 x experienced centre back
- 1 utility player with more talent than El Abd (shouldn't be hard to find)
- 1 x winger who can beat a man and cross a ball
- 2 x central midfielders, 1 creative, 1 holding

Agree with that entirely APART from:

I would keep Fraser and El Abd.
I would release McLeod - don't see how anyone can warrant keeping him. Nice left foot, but he is slow, unfit and has a poor attitude (hence the poor fitness)
Also we don't need another holding midfielder if we are going to keep Dicker and Livermore.

Good post though.
