How do you think he would handle the "stars". He may get away with some occasionally frankly bizarre team selections and formations at Championship level with players who certainly look up to him. He can drop Lua Lua after a great performance and a few eyebrows are raised but that's all.

How would he cope with telling Lampard or Terry they were out of the match day squad. Has he got what it takes to play the dictator at that level or would he go the way of AVB and fall under player power?

These guys are overpaid and often prima donnas, it's unlikely they'd say " OK boss, you know best" imo.

It would be interesting to see how he handled it because he is undoubtably a "my way or the highway" manager here.

Whaddya think?

Thats a very good point actually, it would be interesting to see. Not just on the footballing side of things either.

I would imagine if he had made those comments he made about the Suarez case on Talk Sport he would probably have been sacked by a top club, the media would have made sure of it.

i think its a bit daft to be considering Gus for the Chelsea job, when the current caretaker in the job has more experience.

He won't get either of those jobs.

Rodgers for spurs

Di Matteo for Chelsea

Both ahead of Poyet.

He has got us out performing our potential. Not many expected us to be in the play-offs this season and if we were to keep the same squad for next season I think We'd do even better now that Gus and the squad has the experience of a year at this level.

I think he is a very good manager who could quite easily take on a premiership club and get them moving up the table

Yeah but the question was IF he got it how would it work out, I think we all know he's got zero chance of getting either job in the near future

A lower Premier League club you mean not Spurs or Chelsea? He'd do well to get them moving up the table at all imo ( with his current experience)

Gus is better than him though

we can say so, but thats a matter of opinion. the CV for Gus doesn't read as well as Matteo's at this point, i dont think the latter will get the job but i'd be surprised if they passed over him for a less experienced manager.

Pork pie land.
He would not be able to cope with egos that are big enough to challenge his. The "senior players" clique at Chelsea would be an interesting group for him to try to control.

In an imaginary world. Fair enough.

He won't get those jobs.

This, he will not be considered for either of these jobs at this early stage of his career. If a team from the top half of the Spanish league ( Not Barca or Real obviously) considered he was worth the punt i reckon he would be offski. Not yet though.

To get either of them jobs, Gus need to prove he can do a job in the prem, just like Rodgers. He will try to prove that next season. Either with us, or with someone else. The only way I see Poyet here next season is if we are in the prem. I think, that HE feels he has served his time in league 1 and now the championship....

Won't happen this summer, best Gus could hope for is the offer of a job like Aston Villa or even Swansea if Rodgers goes to Spurs. Surprised no one has considered that if Swansea stay up and Rodgers goes to Spurs that the Swansea job would be ideal for Gus

Swansea rejected him once before though, maybe he won't want to apply there again? Other than that, it's a fair POINT.

I doubt we are going to be in the Premier League, not to say I wouldn't love it but I can't see us doing enough to stay in the playoffs, win over two games and then win at Wembley. I agree that I think that he'll be off at the 1st decent offer from the Premier League if we are not promoted though, assuming the club that wants him can pay the compensation Bloom will want.
