It seems to me that there are certain fans who are trying to make any kind of excuse to convince themselves that Potter is not a quality manager. It's quite obvious he is. What he did here was outstanding.

If you "just don't like him" because he left for a bigger club with considerably better wages and a bigger budget, made a very mildly patronising comment about negative fans at the Amex by suggesting he needs a history lesson, and saying that he could have stayed at the Albion for an 'easy life' (this one in particular is the most curious to me, as it's seemingly true and completely inoffensive?) - then that's all fine... You're probably a little bit on the precious side, but that's fine.

...but I really don't think anyone can really argue about his quality, and how perfect he would be for the BHAFC manager role right now.

Except for the fact he would have pressure this time around. He won't have the patience from fans, it would only take one smarmy comment in a post match and it would be toxic. I also feel uncomfortable about the real possibly he could walk out on us for England.

Thanks for this reply. That settles it. The implication of my comment was that only a united fan base supporting the appointment will do and since we cannot get that under Potter then it's a non starter.

I think Potter is probably the best English manager to be fair, and hope he replaces Southgate.

Won absolutely nothing in the English game, no promotions no cups not even a cup semi final.
Tactically changed the playing style a philosophy that is rampant in most of the English leagues now days. Teams play out from the back it’s not that special or unique anymore.
What owners are now looking for is coaches that get results with that style of play and that’s not Potter.

I can easily argue that he is not perfect for the role.

The guy is an utter tosser. His comment about the job being "an easy life" shows how disrespectful to bhafc he was after he left.

If I went to a new, better paid job, with higher expectations that I wasn't immediately meeting, the customers were treating me like shit - and the boss or whoever asked me about whether I was feeling pressure - to which I replied, "If I wanted an easy life, I would have stayed in my previous role" - is that in any way derogatory of my previous employer?

It's just one of those things. He left us for more pressure, a bigger challenge and more money. It's not offensive, it's the truth. He would have had an easier life here. The comment wasn't even directed at us, so being offended by it is utterly bizarre.
