This is genius marketing by the club. Get everyone riled up that the cheeky scamp potter is in the running. And then they can literally employ any Italian / Spanish / Dutch chump who has managed a second division Belgium side to 12th place playing quantum physics chemistry ball with an xg of 18 each game. And the fans will be frothing at the gash.

Personally I wouldn't hate potter back but it would be a tad inspiring.

I am 100% not better than fans like you, and I don’t mean that facetiously
No of course I’m not suggesting you think that, I am being a little facetious :lolol: I’m just a normal fan like anyone else, I just think the idea that some might boo, wouldn’t make them a better or worse fan, I think some are entitled to still be quite annoyed about potter and his departure, it’s not exactly inspiring!

How bloody depressing. If this really is the case I will be f***ing fuming. And I will be asking for him to f*** off, first game back. This is not what we are about. Taking back a manager who said and did so many things which are completely unacceptable, is weak and will take us back. This is not progressive, it is recessive. Club being tight has f***ed us. I feel a relegation scrap coming on at this rate. There will be 0 unity.

Can’t say boo to a goose, mate. Some proper gimps follow us at times. Pay your money, entitled to your opinion. Fans who whine at other fans at the stadium’s for simply giving their opinion piss me off.

This whole situation stinks. PB n TB have f***ed up and are too stuck in their ways to admit it.

Fans who boo players and managers piss me off, I am that sort of gimp. It’s benefits nobody except the fan who thinks “I pay my money I can do what I like”

If Tony Bloom thinks Potter is the best candidate for the job then that’s good enough for me.
Indeed. His judgement is clearly better than mine so I’ll be getting behind our Chairman’s decision, our team and our club. I’ll even get behind Potter and Bruno if they start bringing the points home.

there were definitely articles all be it in the tabloids over the last week or so suggesting Potter had little interest in a return to club football and was waiting for the England job.
That's always been my impression. Potter has turned down at least three jobs after approaches since getting the boot from Chelsea. One way or the other, Southgate is surely gone after the Euros. The job has Potter written all over it. It wouldn't be so surprising if Potter hasn't already a nudge n wink from the FA blazers.

'However' that Athletic article from Naylor in the last few hours wasn't so much an overview of the manager search, but more a PR exercise for Potter. Softening up the fanbase? Who knows. It is what it is.....

1. First and foremost that wasn't the starting point. We're not better/more promising than we were in 2021, but we're certainly better/more promising than when Potter took over back in 2019.

2. Not many in here at the time thought that Burn and Maupay was anything but horseshit so bringing them up now is quite funny.

3. The team was indeed excellent and performed amazingly well, which is why its the best ever Albion team (61 pts) according to metrics (expected points) that you may not give a shit but that Tony most certainly found very impressive and knew eventually would result in... well, results. Thats how expected points usually work out over time with a young squad if you develop it well. Probably going to be the same now - If things work out as they should, we should get ca 55 points next season.

4. Many of these players were young and not who they are today. Thats the thing with player development, something that seems to awfully difficult to understand. Mac Allister in 2020 was a skinny lad who would disappear from games. From the beginning of 2022, the Everton game, he was a man ready to carry. Things take time.

5. Thats 15 yeah, and when we go outside of those 15, and when we get those players is when we see why we're in a more promising seat now.
Now we just need to find a manager who is willing to help these players reach their potential. Preferably someone who doesn't make Ansu Fati look like Andi Zeqiri.
I am not going to argue with all these points because I know you'll argue the toss until 4am if you have to.

But I pay good money to watch Brighton home and away. I'm not coming home £200 worse off from a trip up North watching us get beat saying "never mind we lost, because we won on metrics and that's what Tony cares about".

And I'd prefer a manager who didn't make Solly March look like Andi Zeqiri either.

Harsh on Andi, who by some accounts got treated quite harshly by Potter.
