If Naylor is sewing the seeds, even with a big "it might not happen" caveat, then fair to say it will happen unless Potter turns us down.

For f*** sake Brighton & Hove f***ing Albion
I took the article to be Naylor asking the club "have you considered Potter?" to which the club have replied "we haven't ruled anyone out (except Cooper)" but in reality they will be looking elsewhere whilst everyone babbles on about Potter.

We know Naylor is already a signed up member of the Potter fan club but FFS are we really thinking the best way to move forward is to rewind two years?

If they hold on to Eze and Elysee they will be a force next season possibly take a European place.
Not with Spurs and Man utd champing at the bit.

Potter will be one of, if not the, main candidate for the job.

He's exactly what we need. He's free. He knows the club. He's proven quality, and possibly the best English manager in the world right now.

The big question is, does he want to come here?

He won’t be a candidate at all. He won’t want to come back and Bloom doesn’t want him to come back.

Rewinding two years we were in a better place than we are now! Two places higher in the league, the long term plan was coming to fruition and we were looking forward to the next season with real hope and enthusiasm. We had just cracked the top ten for the first time ever, and looking like a PL team in every way.

Yes, I'd happily 'move forward' to where we were to years ago!

2 years ago we had a plethora of midfielders in Bissouma, Mwepu, Caicedo and Mac Allister.

Now, er...
True but we didn’t have a striker. Now we have Pedro and Ferguson (I know he was there but he’s older now and a genuine first team option. I’d be excited to see what spotter could do with Baleba.

I wouldn't if I were him.

yeah this is definitely on now. naylor isn’t much of a speculator, if he’s writing about potter being given consideration it’s because that’s what he’s been told, and the club are asking him to effectively start the job of rehabilitating his image amongst the fanbase

And now we have another set of previously unknown youngsters ready to go through the same development under Potter (if he's appointed). Good times.

However, I don't do wishful thinking and remain firm in what I've said for the 5 years I've been here: Andy Naylor knows nothing apart from the odd, unimportant detail the club mind sharing with him.

I find it pretty disappointing that so many of our fans are so butt-hurt about:

- The fact he went to Chelsea to earn silly money at what is considered to be a top 6 team - something 99.9% of managers in his position would have done as well.

- The 'history lesson' thing. A poorly timed thing to say, granted... but it's hardly the crime of the century.

He's a TOP TOP manager. The best we can get right now, surely. He has proven success here and at other clubs. If we can get him we should be absolutely REJOICING, as the good times will be back. He has already contributed to the development of our best EVER players, and undoubtedly he will do the same with our current batch of young prospects.
