Is this thread the officially designated "daft things to say over the international break" one?
If it did (it doesn't), and if you agreed on £51m for Evan (I don't) - he still wouldn't currently start, as Joao Pedro and Rutter are worth more!Ferguson will get plenty of game time over the coming months. I don't see the need to rush to be honest, or why a player's perceived value should guarantee anyone a place in the starting line up.
What if one or other were to get injured? It's not exactly unknown...Don't think Tony would accept £51m, nor do I think anyone would offer it.
I'm in favour of sending him on loan in January though as I don't think he can outcompete any of Welbeck and Joao Pedro this season.
Then we also have Rutter. What if one or other were to get injured? It's not exactly unknown...
It's a fair point up to a point. But at some point soon the Albion end up being the new Chelsea: a club with such a glut of talent on the books that they end up becoming a clearing house for ultra-talented ultra-motivated young players that just want a huge amount of game time and above all want to feel special. If we don't give them that then there's no shortage of others that willThen we also have Rutter.
Currently we have five strikers (Welbeck, Joao Pedro, Julio Enciso, Evan Ferguson, Georginio Rutter) that has primarly played as strikers during their careers.
Four months into the season, Ferguson has played a 100 minutes and Enciso 84. This despite moving around Rutter to cover for O'Riley and Gruda, two players signed to be competing for the starting eleven.
Its a completely non-sustainable situation. I know that fans love "squad depth", wanting and expecting 20-year-old players to sit on the bench week in week out in case a couple of players fall apart. But the problem is that the players and the club doesn't love it equally much, because their careers and development are ruined if we're only able to give them a 100 minutes in the league over 4 months.
Fairly sure at least one of Julio Enciso and Evan Ferguson goes somewhere in January and I wouldn't be surprised if both move. Evan Ferguson would be a starter in a number of PL teams. Five months of weekly starts for Southampton or something would be great for him and in the long run for us.
A top 4 finish and all this babble goes away. It's a fair point up to a point. Only problem with your "only able to give them a 100 minutes in the league over 4 months' is that we've only had 11 games. From this weekend they will come thick and fast and will need sqaud rotation. Then we also have Rutter.

I don't think we will sell our loan him out but who knows?
Yes, yes it is.Is this thread the officially designated "daft things to say over the international break" one?
Need a poll to confirm it.Is this thread the officially designated "daft things to say over the international break" one?
Gonna need bigger fences at Burgess Hill Football club after that leapProper Evan goal. Great strength to bully two defenders and head in. Nice
If he does get plenty of minutes (and some goals), fine - the idea of a half season loan isn't that unthinkable though. The 100 mins thing is misleading. Ferguson missed the first month of the season injured and has been eased back in minutes wise to avoid over playing him. Add that too a player bang in form in Welbeck who is his main rival and it’s not that surprising he hasn’t had that much game time yet this season.
As you say the games come thick and fast now over the Xmas period, he’ll get plenty of mins soon.
I usually do.Yes, yes it is.
Would you like to make a contribution?
Like Buanotte's loan at Leicester which has many EPL clubs saliving ?If he does get plenty of minutes (and some goals), fine - the idea of a half season loan isn't that unthinkable though.
Yep, fine.. That would be a good half season.Like Buanotte's loan at Leicester which has many EPL clubs saliving ?
Counterpoint: He should have earned his team a penalty, in a game where they were outplayed and created barely any chancesAfter his performance tonight we'd be lucky to get £51
