[Albion] If Ferguson is now worth £51m, maybe Hürzeler might consider letting him play?

You can tell it’s an international break.

Mind you I can’t talk, I’ve bumped my old threads about Madonna and I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, so we’re all in the mud together.

It still bewilders me how a random newspaper article with an evaluation gets quoted as fact.

He's got potential but done nothing to warrant that price lol
We've just spent £40m on Georginio and £35m on Minteh (who had never played in the PL). A proven PL goal scorer comes at a premium so it's not beyond the realms of possibilities that we would value him north of £50m (only TB/PBOBE will know for sure though).

we were bemoaning the lack of squad depth the past few seasons, which was highlighted last few months of last season when the injuries really hamstrung us. We now have much more depth which by definition means that some previously first choice players will need to wait their chance

Fergusson has been long term injured and IMO will be slowly reintegrated into the matchday squad, but he is now one of many looking for a starting spot.

He will undoubtedly get the minutes he needs to make himself first choice-whether he rediscovers his pre injury form or not is unknowable atm

He’s 19 years old and still training to get back to peak condition after his injury.

As for “letting” him play, why “drop” anyone? Anyone would think there’s only room for 11 players in a football squad the way some people seem to think 😉

- he may not be a starter in the pecking order of existing forwards at the moment but no reason why we can’t use him from the bench until he’s got some confidence back and scoring goals again. He is still an imposing physical presence in the 18 yard box and keeps defenders very busy even if he’s not putting them in himself. Part of the problem was our set up last season and RDZ’s use of a false 9 - Evan is a true striker, a traditional no.9 (like Haaland) and like Haaland needs a Kevin de Bruyne player to help service the balls - imo I think we have that in Rutter and I think Hürzeler will find room for him.

With a contract until 2029, I don’t think he’ll be going anywhere soon anyway, so a current ‘value‘ of £51m is a paper figure that’s all.
