dont you remember that free kick against greece?
or the penalty against argentina?
or that he has 100 caps?
or that he won the title for real madrid?

if we are going to be under the back foot against croatia, then blistering pace is going to be important on the counter attack. but then again, if we are under pressure then a player who is more consistent and less unpredictable than walcott maybe a good idea. tough choice for fab, if we lose he will be in the wrong whoever he picks

I assume this is tongue in cheek - unless what someone did 3 or 4 years ago really is actually considered relevent ??

Beckham is a busted flush and a liablity these days. He can't get up and down the pitch any more, he drifts around and causes us to lose our shape, and the only thing he brings to the table is decent delivery from set pieces, which is not really enough to justify him in the starting XI.

Walcott HAS to start ahead of Beckham. Its a no brainer.

If Beckham was disciplined enough he could play as the holding player. But we all know he will drift out of position and constantly try to play long balls.

He can't tackle for toffee either though.
Whatever way you slice it, Beckhams usefulness in an England shirt has now expired. He's been a great servant, but its time he was put out to graze. England are getting almost as bad as the Albion now for keeping players on well past their sell-by.

Please not another Beckham thread, I'll get drawn in......

*desperately tries not to wade in...*

Surely more essential is that Joe Cole starts and is given the freedom he needs and deserves?

But yes at least 45 minutes of Walcott would be nice.

Yeah. Right on.

Who got the Goldon Shoe at the 86 World Cup?
Who remembers the 48 Goals for England?
Who remembers the equaliser against Germany in 90?

Linekar should be up front

He wont play Walcott not a chance. Maybe if we are 1 down with 20 to go...

He will play Cole Barry Lampard and Beckham....and probably Rooney helping out also in Midfield....

He is Italian.....a clean sheet is what he is after.

I would love to see Walcott playing. I think he has the speed, and when he plays well he could get into any team (remember the counter-attack he caused in the champions league quarters/semis lat year - can't remember which). I think the injection of speed might make the difference.

Ask him - Do you realise you're absolute quality?

Because he always looks terrified to be on a football pitch in big games, like he's just some young kid chucked in at the deep end. Admittedly taking him to World Cup was akin to exactly that, but compare his confidence level to that of a 17 year old Wayne Rooney. Walcott has the potential to be brilliant.

Croatians would love to see Beckham starting.

Bilic to players - "Just chuck everything down the left wing!"
