See Redknapp down to 5-2 for the Chelsea job and Evens on some sites. Then of course he could be going down soon if it does get proved he was taking backhanders. Either way, Spurs will need a new manager.

Whilst Gus has been linked to a dozen jobs since his arrival here I think if the Spurs job did come up this would be one we would have to get a little worried about.

If Levi at Spurs was looking for a Harry replacement he would have to look seriously at Gus, and Gus as a Spurs legend would have to be tempted.

We need to follow the Harry Redknapp saga over the summer.

Gus isn't ready for the Prem just yet and he knows it. Needs a couple of successful years at the top end of The Championship before he's ready to go anywhere. I hope.

Spurs Legend?
I think it would be tempting for Gus Poyet to go to Spurs, but not the other way. Tottenham will want a higher profile manager, proven at that level.

If redknapp gets the Chelsea job i am pretty sure suddenly the judges will see him as a angel who is a victim of his own success.

Normally I Ignore these Chelsea/spurs threads as the RUDICULOUS suggestions that Gus would EVEN be CONSIDERED is BARMY.

But, I've finally cracked.

Chelski and Spurs have champions league ambitions. There is NO WAY that they even have Gus's name on their shortlist, let alone even bother contacting him.

He is a manager who has had 1 1/2 seasons in LEAGUE ONE.
NOT the Prem
NOT the top division in Spain or Germany or Italy.
NOT EVEN a season in the English 2nd division.

He has managed in the THIRD division of English football.

Him playing for spurs has NO bearing.

When Gus goes to Spurs, there's nothing to worry about. We can appoint Bobby Zamora as Albion manager. He's played for Spurs and is an Albion legend. Success is CERTAIN.

I am sure I read that he doesnt have his Euro badges yet so wouldnt be considered for either job. The Chelsea job is a poison chalice for anybody, with Abramovich, other than the fact it sets a manager up financially but then most of the candidates would be wealthy in the own right before being offered the chance of the job.

I am sure that I read somewhre that Gus is looking to engage Zola to the back room team. A long term view perhaps but I think that Gus will mould Charlie Oatway and either Zola or Tarrico to be his successor when he eventually leaves, as he will one day and take either Zola or Tarrico with him.

Its a long shot but IMHO well above any of rumour of a Gus potential move, its not as if successful ex-players don't go back to manage the clubs they played for, just ask Liverpool and didn't the Barca young manager used to play for them? I know a lot of Spurs fans and he would be a popular choice although few would want Harry to leave. Him playing for Spurs HAS bearing, as does the style of play applied at Spurs, alot of Spurs fans think Poyet should have been kept when they gave Ramos the boot. Stick your head in the sand if you like, but if Redknapp went, Poyet would be a serious candidate.

All the same, I hope Gus stays here.................his standing will improve if he has success with us; succeeding 'Arry at Spurs and doing no better, or even slightly less successfully, would not enhance his reputation. Hope that's how he sees it!

According to my son Abramovich has been quoted as saying the next manager will get a 3 year deal as he is monitoring Gus for 3 years time when his contract with us finishes.
