Actually, there was also a altercation whilst walking to the station....a rather bald looking gentlemen with a group of people cut in front of this other bloke treading on his toes I think....anyway, the second bloke said something about " no apologies for that then?"... And the other bloke obviously told him to f*** off and suddenly they were pushing and shoving and people jumping between them.

There seems to be far too many heavily pissed-up idiots in the train queues (on match days) now. Why these muppets feel the need to get so hammered before the game starts - God only knows. They ought to stay in the pub if heavy drinking is far more important than going up to stagger into the stands. Apart from anything else, this is the best football that's been played down here for goodness knows how long: so shirley it's all the more reason to take it steady & enjoy it while it lasts.

This was nothing really, the albion fan was being a bit of a drunk calling them wankers but the brum boys could of ignored it, although one made himself look like a dick as he just kept saying crystal palace, like that would wind anyone up. The police got involved and nothing come of it.

The funny thing was there were about 4 young lads giving the v sign to some friends of there's infront of me, the old bill saw and thought they were winding people up and gave them a complete bollocking.

The thing is, there is now more potential for agro to start because:

more fans + same amount of trains = more queuing time for fights to brew.

Transport and getting fans away from the ground is still not as good as it could and should be.

Can't help but think back to the thread posted the day before the match where lots of people said that the later kick-off meant 2 hours more drinking prior to the match, and wonder if that was a contributing factor.

Have to agree with Jam the Man about transport problems and the fact that the club are "encouraging" people to have more drinking time at the Amex because of the difficulties in getting to and from the stadium without getting there ridiculously early or staying on afterwards.Simple example - anyone hoping to park in Mill Road had to be there by 350pm because it was then closed! That's an hour and forty minutes before kick off - or at worst, about 75 minutes drinking time! Two months ago The Insider suggested there would be a new Park and Ride site this season - the silence is deafening and the chaos growing!

Some of the worst trouble I've ever seen was at St Andrews earlier this season when I went to watch Barnet. Throughout, the away fans were taunting Marlon King for punching a woman and going to prison. Also singing: "We heard you run from the Villa" etc. This seemed to send them over the edge and their little chavs were out for trouble outside the away end after the game, smashing the coach windows and carrying broken glass bottles to stab Barnet fans with. Nice.

If you count a continuous season ticket since Gillingham! I am also old enough to remember the serous stuff in Goldstone Lane and at Hove Station in the 70s and 80s (including one ruck under the platforms when the Police directed us down straight into a bunch of Palace fans).

It was very minor, but you're more sensitive to these things when you have your kids with you, and the atmosphere was very friendly until this one Albion fan saw the red mist.

As for the Police, they didn't speak to the bloke I mean because he moved behind a pillar almost immediately the Police took notice and don't think any of them saw him. In fact, they went and had a word with the Birmingham fans instead!

It was just noteworthy because it was so sudden, and it was an Albion "fan" who kicked off for no apparent reason. They weren't goading anyone, just being happy because they'd won. I suppose that was enough if you're sad enough to get that upset.

Bloody hell it really wasn't that bad, I think you are being a little sensitive.

I like a bit of banter between rival supporters. It can be quite humorous and create a convivial atmosphere. Unfortunately, there are always some brainless twats who cant see the fun and humour and have to be aggressive and offensive. They are not real supporters, just mindless louts with a moronic tribal attitudes. Sad people really !!
Strange thing is, often when I go to away games and stop at Service Stations up the M1, you encounter a whole variety of supporters criss-crossing the country to support their teams and you have an opportunity to talk, swap stories and have a laugh and there's never any hint of trouble.

That's all very true. The vast majority of us accept that the location of the stadium & the enforced parking restrictions creates problems, but that's all the more reason for public transport provision to be significantly better than it is. It was bad enough getting up to & back from the stadium from central Brighton & Hove before the thousands of additional seats went in - & now it's becoming even more of a nightmare. I stupidly thought that something would be sorted this season (particularly since we're all now paying for local bus & train companies to provide our match day transport), but sadly any improvements seem to be conspicuous through their absence. It makes me seriously wonder if the club, B&H Bus Co. & Southern Trains are doing enough to bring about some much-needed change to public transport provision. Perhaps they've all decided to turn a blind to it all - since it suits their revenue objectives? I sincerely hope that I'm even more wide of the mark than usual. Frankly, I'd imagine the non football-going public would greatly appreciate getting on a Falmer bound train or bus without having a load of supporters crammed in with them like sardines too.

didn't go to millwall then ? don't commute to london then ?

lets get this right , we are talking of a 7 minute train journey and it has never ever been even remotely near getting towards worrying crushing levels. EVER FACT !

On the whole the trains work brilliantly despite posts like this painting a different picture.

Oh for the days of getting a seat as on the 14:30 to preston park . . . . .do me a favour !!!

Did they stab any then? Don't remember seeing this in the news?
