Steve Foster sounds like a legend. Chris Cattlin, not so much.

I love Wrighty. One of football's class acts in my opinion. I'd have loved to see him in the stripes, and it sounds like it came very close. What could have been...

He did play in the stripes, just that unfortunately they weren't ours. I knew he had a trial at the Albion, just as Roy Keane did at the same time. I didn't realise it had had that effect on him though.

Your loss was certainly our gain.
Well done Steve Foster, not so good by the others.
Gave him that fire in his belly.

Anyone else remember when we played them in the Simod cup in 1990/91? Wright was given loads of grief by the north stand at a corner. He sort of craned his neck at us. Stuck in my mind . I think he scored that night as well.
How we turned him down I will never know

Interesting !
I knew he'd been on trial but not all the rest
Wonder why Cattlin didn't sign him
What could have been . . .

I was there and remember the gesture well. It was 'I'm so scared' with his fingers to his face followed by a big smile.

I've always quite liked him (and I feel so dirty saying that)

That's an understatement. How crap do you have to be to have him on trial for that long, scoring goals (because he always did, it's not like he was a late bloomer) and let him go?

Even BG would have kept him on.

We had him on loan, I remember. Was he available to buy at the time?

I think so....

Just listened to the Wrighty interview. We had him for 6 weeks?! And treated him disgracefully. Good on Steve Foster, though.

Wrighty is right though. If you get through a time where you are totally at the mercy of others, it makes you so much stronger.

Yep, bloody cold night that with snow all round pitch and Stephen Roorke legendary ‘Oi, Palace get OFF THE PITCH’ tanoid announcement after they scored. Classy team Palace back then, we weren’t too bad ourselves but certainly not in their league. 2 nil them wasn’t it?
