Where on earth were the police and stewards.
How did that nutter get that far onto the pitch? and be allowed to confront Ian walker for so long? What if he had had a knife?

Well done Ian for having a go!!

I don't suppose the 'fan' will be welcome at the Walkers Stadium ever again.

Shame

Shouldn't really have kept going at him like that though should he? That's what stewards are for (even if they're crap). Walker repeatedly pushed the big ginger lump to the ground.

Peter Enckelman had to endure worse at St Andrews last season and he didn't react at all.

Ian Walker is a poncy great tart, let us not forget...

The interesting thing is that the Ref - Jeff Winter - said after the game that he should, if he had followed the Laws of the Game, have sent Walker off. He further commented that he expected to get into trouble for not having done so.

In my opinion, if he had sent him off he would have had a riot to contend with!!.

Sensible refereeing Mr Winter.

Of course he shouldn't have .... he should have stood there and taken every bit of abuse that the prat threw at him, then he should have turned his back and walked away without knowing whether said prat would have produced a weapon or jumped him.

By the same token anyone who encounters a burgular in their house should make them a cup of tea and make sure that they know exactly where to find the valuables.

Indeed. Edna - Walker had to keep going at him because the stewards hadn't turned up. For Christ's sake, it was the box, not the centre circle - the stewards only had about ten yards to run to get there.

I loved it when Big Ron said he should have chinned him (I agree - the stewards should never have allowed the fan to get near)
& Gabby said

"I feel I should point out that we on the Premiership do not condone the act of chinning."

The "fan" has been banned for life, despite a grovelling "I didn't know what I was doing" plea to the local paper.

Interesting to read Jeff "Leering Orange Monster" Winter's take on the incident - well done to him indeed. It reminds me of a time when Uriah Rennie (another ref I don't normally rate too highly...) got pulled up by his bosses for putting himself between two players (one might have been Roy Keane) to stop them having a fight. I think he was demoted from the Premiership for a few games as a result, despite most people agreeing he did exactly the right thing.

If Jeff Winter does get into trouble for one of the few occasions when he's called it exactly right, then the FA are even further away from the plot than I thought they were.

It has been said that if a fan really wants to get on the pitch then he will, unless they put up fences.

If the fan really wanted to attack Walker with a weapon I expect he would have waited for him to come out of the players entrance rather than do it in front of 30,000 people.

I bet the fan feels rather stupid now.

Apparently he does - and the good news is that Walker is not going to be in trouble:

(from the BBC website)

Walker escapes FA action

The Football Association has revealed Leicester keeper Ian Walker will not face action for tussling with a fan.

Walker shoved Andrew Price to the ground after the Foxes fan ran onto the pitch to confront him during the 5-0 thrashing against Aston Villa.

Leicester have since issued a life ban to Price, who has apologised.

"Saturday's incident was clearly unacceptable and we do not want to see any repeat," said FA spokesman Adrian Bevington.

"We understand the individual who entered the pitch was arrested and we now expect action to be taken against him, which will see him banned from entering all football stadiums.

"Thankfully, these kind of incidents are very rare in our stadiums.

"However, all fans should note that entering the field of play is an offence and can lead to criminal convictions," he told the FA's website.

The lifetime suspension against Price will start with immediate effect, despite his full apology for his actions at the Walkers Stadium.

"The club notes the apology made by Mr Price but given the seriousness of the incident had no option but to apply a life ban," said a Leicester statement.

"Steps will be taken to ensure player safety won't be further compromised.

"Of paramount importance now is that everyone connected with the club remains totally united in our aim to maintain Premier status."

Price apologised for his actions, telling the Leicester Mercury newspaper: "I am so sorry. I'm gutted about it. It was a stupid thing to do and I regret it.

"I was surprised I got that far and found myself standing in front of Ian Walker in the penalty box.

"When I got to him I said I didn't think he was fit to be a Premiership player. He told me to get lost basically."

Walker defended his actions, saying: "He came up to me and was abusive and aggressive.

"I tried to push him away and attempted to restrain him while stewards came onto the pitch.

"Our supporters have every right to make their feelings known about our performance and I can understand their frustration, but I don't think acting in this way is going to help the team."

Leicester boss Micky Adams leapt to Walker's defence.

Adams said: "I hope no action is taken against Ian. First of all the fan shouldn't have been on the pitch."

I wonder if anyone has ever been sent off for defending themselves against a 'fan'?
AS an opposition player you'd be thinking what the f***, and would nt know what to say. If Walker had gone then IM sure the twat would have got a good kicking from a few people.

He ran all that way and all he told Walker is that he's not fit to be a Premiership player?

"as well as that, Walker, you have criminally crap hair, and if you don't watch out, you'll lose concentration as a result of this, and find yourself fumbling a really soft cross from Dion Dublin into the net for Villa's fourth, not to mention the capital offence of allowing lanky git Crouch a second goal"
