Please define how you came to that conclusion, he had one good year with Palarse after mini success with Oldham and then every other season and club he has been at has ended in a disaster, pretty much like Micky Adams career went after leaving us the first time round.

He did well with Oldham , and this quote from wikipedia about his Palace stint is exactly what we need right now -

Dowie was appointed manager of Crystal Palace, inheriting a squad with low morale and occupying 19th place in Division One. However, under his leadership, the club went on an impressive run that included 17 wins from 23 games after he took over, until the end of the season, enabling the club to finish in sixth place in Division One, just scraping into the Division One play-off places. This feat was attributed to complete change in the atmosphere and training regime at the club, including a tougher disciplinary regime, introduced by Dowie

OK he didn't do great at Charlton but they were in free fall and could any one of halted it ? Coventry have hardly set the world on light since and wasn't given any time here

Bang on. I've also been saying we should get him now that Gannon has turned us down. The objections on the grounds of the Palace connection are frankly pathetic. The key thing with Dowie is his intelligence, with progessive and modern ideas about the game. Exactly what we need. He's the man we should get, if not Pardew.

I disagree. I think Brighton is his level right now.

He was unlucky to be sacked by QPR, and they are no higher now than when they sacked him.
