About 4 miles from The Goldstone and 8 days later we beat Luton 2 - 0 but went on to finish bottom of the table.

I was born in Shoreham on the night England beat Portugal to get through to the World Cup final in 1966. My Dad watched it on the hospital TV.
I was still in hospital on the Saturday afternoon of the match.

Born 6 miles from Goldstone. Game before Southend (H) 4:0 Followed by Exeter (A) 5:0 Newport (H) 8:1 and Norwich (H) 6:0. Happy days.
Seven Stars Hotel & English's Oyster Bar were thriving in Ship St, Wild Harvest was at the Astoria, King Alfred Swimming Pool was open for mixed bathing and parking for the football at Hove Greyhounds was 1/- (5p).
More importantly Bill Hayleys Rock Around The Clock was released on my day of birth.
And Albion were top of the league.

Approximately 25 miles from The Goldstone a few days after what I can only assume was a thrilling 1-1 draw away at Wrexham

29 miles from the Goldstone between a 2-0 loss at Bristol City and a 2-2 home draw with Gillingham. First game I saw was a 1-1 draw at home to Bristol Rovers. Things got better.
