I thought thatI would be able to highlight all of the tracks and then drag them to the MP 3 but I cannot hioghlight them what am I doing wrong and how do I transfer them. Any help would be appreciated.

Sync the ipod with itunes then create a playlist with the songs you want to add.

If your MP3 player is some generic piece of nonsense and not an iPod lovingly designed in Cupertino by Apple then I'm not sure iTunes will be much good to you.

If that is the case you probably want to be using Windows Explorer (or whatever it's called nowadays) to drag and drop the files from your computer to the MP3 player.

Try going into the mp3s settings on itunes and changing the syncing options to manual. You will then be able to click, drag and drop the songs you want on there.

Wont be beaten so we start again. I have an MP3 connected to laptop by USB and 2 CDS that I want to put on the MP3. Can somebody give a simple idiots step by step guide to doing it as all the advice of Sync etc have meant nothing and when I found the Sync with I pod under the Files heading nothing happened.

If its not a proper Ipod then there is a chance it wont sync with itunes.

In that case use Windows Media Player to sync then drag and drop.

If you've used itunes to rip the cds then they will be in your iTunes music folder. As its not an apple iPod it will not sync with iTunes so you will have to use another method to put the files on there. You will need to know where your iTunes music folder is, it could be in your My Documents\My Music folder, it depends on how iTunes is setup on your machine. When you attach the MP3 player to the Pc does it show up as an external drive? If it does it should be as simple as selecting all the files you want to copy from the iTunes folder and copying them then navigate to the music folder on the external drive(MP3 Player) and paste the tracks into there.

Assuming this is a generic mp3 player and not an apple one:

Rip the cd in itunes as normal.

Plug in the mp3 player.

Select to open files

Then click on the start button and select the music file

Then locate the mp3s in the music folder and click and drag onto the mp3 window.

Some mp3 players are picky, about which files they will use, so you might have to rip the cds in windows media player to get wma files instead of mp3s.
