I this now the End for The BNP?

Was last night a disaster for Mr Griffin and his bunch of undesirables? Would it be dangerous for us to pay them no more attention as this could open the door for something more extreme. If unemployment rises to catastrophic levels, The National debt spirals out of control, riots take place, the political system breaks down, wages are cut etc, would this open the door for a much more dangerous and better organised Far Right Wing party?

Interesting to note the more hardline NF saved their deposit in Rochdale. I don't see them as becoming an electoral force but expect to see a lot of fall out over the coming months

Nope, not quite, I would liken the BNP situation to what it is like in the bathroom after you have had a really good dump...it was necessary and the smell will linger for a while but eventually it will disappear and the situation return to normal.

The National Front polled a surprising 4.9% in Rochdale but just LOST their deposit. In fact they lost their deposit everywhere they stood.

They got 560,000 votes and there is talk of a more directly representative system. Personally, I'm quite worried...

Less than 1% of the UK population?

Well nationwide turnout is 65% (and that was a high) and a good chunk of that population is under 18. So not quite the case. In any case, 1% of the UK population would still be 6 seats in Parliament...

Maybe the BNP will have a organisational reshuffle now.

You might call it a Night of the Long Knives.
