...for £4 round trip and a free pint.

I wonder if the Tap and C&A will follow suit.

Quite a good deal really.

That sounds like fantastic value.
I wonder if the club will struggle to accomodate all of these coaches in the coach park, i'm sure i read there will only be 60 spaces at the amex.

If the Evening Star have this idea, don't fall for it.

The beer is rubbish, especially the APA.

The atmosphere is non existant, due to it being empty.

Use any other pub's travel plans, but not this one if they do. (Please leave it for me:thumbsup:)

Is this permissible under current travel regulations as if not I am sure there will be a coach or bus company that will raise an objection. I did a similar deal at Christmas in 1 pub taking people home and because the car was a business expense I was told I needed a cab license to do the run even if I did it for nothing as the expenses of the car were claimed against my tax.

I noticed yesterday after the game there were 2 coach queues, when I asked why the steward said that one lot were going to the station, whereas one lot were going to various pubs around Colchester. Makes sense.

Don't think the pub themselves are running them, one of the existing coach companies have agreed to pick up there.

That will probably meet the legislation. We tried to do a day trip to France for 30 people total cost £500, therefore nearly £17 each which they could all donate towards the cost individually but we couldnt advertise as a trip with seats available at £16.66p each. This was all to do with licences etc which a coach company held, so they could advertise it and organise it but the pub couldnt.

I think its a great idea for pubs to run these minibuses / coaches / Buses to games. Could help with the parking issues if you can park your car at your local, have a beer (or soft drink for the drivers!) then get a coach to and from the ground.

Agreed. Brighton & Hove Buses wouldn't have the available stock or manpower to cover matchdays at the Amex by themselves and the more legitimate coaches there are the better. As the Amex has space for 60 coaches, parking shouldn't be a problem. :)

That is the important point. What nobody wants is any Tom Dick and Harry thinking they can buy a clapped out old coach or minibus and do the governor of the pub 'a favour for a few bob'.

I am sure Brighton Buses and the Area Transport Office which used to be in Eastbourne I think will be watching the developements.
Since the deregulation of the 1980s, it's much easier to organise services like this. As long as the owner of the vehicle has an operator's licence, there is no problem. As for "watching developments", what is now the South Eastern and Metropolitan Traffic Area Office is conveniently located in ... Leeds.

These days, though, enforcement of operator licensing is carried on by VOSA, out of their office in Hastings, where they mainly don't have the resources to do anything very much.

What a great idea. Of course, the coaches don't have to park at the Amex, they can just do shuttle service and drop-off only - so, no parking necessary.

Another fine example of how our a great stadium generates opportunities across the city.
