Personally I've never understood the 'Free Recovery' signs on motorways. Do they recover your vehicle for free if you break down or something?

To the nearest motorway service station or the nearest exit. You then pay through the nose unless you are in a breakdown organisation.

When I was involved in organising Le Tour de France in East Sussex and Brighton, we found that every single sign that was put up (for the benefit of participants or spectators) was removed promptly at the end of the event. The organisers had NOTHING to do.

There are still marshall signs up in Coldean from the London to Brighton cycle ride in June...... don't hold your breath.
