Just gt back from a holiday to see we've lost at home again. With a man sent off. Again. Christ, what is it with this club and Withdean. We're really going for the worst home record in all 4 divisions again aren't we.

I bloody hate Withdean. So depressing.

Or even starting a supportive team chant from somewhere - anywhere! - else in the ground

Actually, there is. A solid wall of apathy to the cause from those near by. Start a chant in C and be faced with silence and look like a right twat. Get some funny looks from some chavs in a Man U jacket (a la carslile in A last season)

You'll also be faced with the people infront of you giving you dirty looks, asking at the end of the game if one can hear the other (the twats infront of my seat did this at Walsall).

If we could get C singing as much as H, then that would be a start, but outside of H, most fans who go don't give two shits about signing and are resigned to looking vaguely depressed.

Granted we need to get a back four (althoug bennet could fit the bill :jester:) playing infront of 5500 people who don't give a shit about supporting and only go for the chips doesn't exactly help motivate. End of last season, owusu's raise the roof campaign+slade's top man management = good results. This season dead atmosphere plus+slades top man management = average results at best so far (although te've been below average i'm compensating for Dickinson being on the pitch, the various red cards and the lack of a propper in-their-strongest-position back four)

As I live in Oxford, I go to the Kassam Stadium from time to time. Even though the stadium is still a three-sided wind tunnel, the atmosphere is intimidating (as was the Manor Ground) when it is more than half-full. Last month, I went to the Luton game. The atmosphere that night was electric, what with a partisan home crowd and 2,500 visitors. (See attached photos.) If 11,000 people in the Kassam Stadium can generate an atmosphere then we should be able to do so at Falmer.

the atmosphere tended to go downhill with the advent of the singing section

There's an awful lot of people STANDING up there. And probably swearing. What are FA going to do about that? The Withdean Stasi would have to set up a fan concentration camp to steward that sort of atmosphere.

I think it's got more to do with immature juvenile meatheads who can barely string two words together, let alone sing a decent song. There seems to be a lot of them in H Block.

More stupid chants yesterday.

"You're Welsh and you know you are!" followed by "Dirty northern bastards"

...Why?

I do wonder at times, firm favourites like dirty northern bastards, your welsh e.t.c do f*** all to wind up the opposition, generate atmoshpere (because its so cringe worthy barely anyone sings it) or support the team, should more people be singing? Yes, it would have some impact on performance, should people in H block be giving abuse to others around the ground for not wanting to sing irrelevant shit like your welsh and you know you are to MK dons. NO.

The entire stadium could do a much better job of getting behind the players and H block certinaly isnt exempt from that, why dont we try winding up the opposition fans by singing chants that involve getting behind our players and motivating them (We are Brighton, GOSBTS, Na Na Na Brighton e.t.c. e.t.c.) louder than they are as opposed to a handful (plenty in H block dont even join in) hurling 'abuse' at the away fans. Even the foot stamping thing at least makes some noise and there is a rhythm, how exactly does 'you only cme for the night life' motivate our players. The left side/right side is another prime example of a chant that does nothing to help the atmosphere.

We don't chant in C, we offer mild applause and proffer timely advice on the rules and aims of association football.

In E block we chunter in mild disapproval about the ineptitude of El Abd, the lack of effort from Dickinson, the fact that Cox is still at the club, the fact that we STILL haven't got the foggiest idea who is playing for us, the size of the programme type, the lack of forks at half time.............................

I think that should read that lack of sporks, please don't forget we are a progessive club and therefore expect progressive plastic cutlery

The Championship.
i think the new foot stamping thing we do in block H is pretty good , i know its not a chant but if people do it in time can be pretty loud .
but instead of just slagging of H why doesnt everyone else sing ..
i heard it around the ground on saturday , the albion chant which is good , if we can get that to go round now and again it can be pretty loud and may lift the players :)

Last time I bothered to attend was end of Jan against Hartlepool. We won, despite managing to spend both halves hoofing the ball 30 ft in the air for most of the match. My mate turned to me after 1st half and said it was probably the worst 45 mins of football he had ever seen, and he is from Belper, so he should know.

However, It was not the bad football I objected to , it was the atmosphere, even a win could not lift the spirits of the miserable sham of supporters. On the walk out, there was just silence, no-one chatting or celebrating, just a funeral march out of the ground.

I vowed that was the last £25 I was gonna spend on not only a lacklustre team of 2nd rate players but the last time I wanted to spend a saturday afternoon with such a dour bunch of miserable football "fans". It made me realise that the reason most Albion fans go to the match is to get away from their families.

Falmer? Falmer bollocks, you will still all walk out of that ground looking like someone walked into your house on Christmas Day and pissed on your kids.
