I love Firefox

I just obliterated my browser off my screen by accidentally pressing two keys at the wrong time and place. It just disappeared, replete with 4 tabs open, and a long NSC missive almost ready to post.

Restarted Firefox, and everything came back up, and including the post just as it was when I last saw it.

Does IE even do that?

Hard to get used to at first but once you get used to it, it's definitely quicker and I like the way it hides away all the tabs.

IE crashed on me a while back ,and when I relaunched it there was a message about "carrying on in the same session" which did much the same thing if I remember rightly.

First time I ever hit those keys in the order that would close a browser, in ten years of having computers - but you never hit a wrong sequence of keys?

Yeah, normally it does ask that. This time, it just restored the session/s automatically.

Clear history is very suspicious though, is it not? If someone has used a browser and history is empty, they might as well just say "I've been looking at porn."

What I'd probably do is have another browser installed, but not have any shortcuts etc to it and only accessible by navigating to the executable directly. I'd use this browser for 'personal' browsing and the main browser on the machine for more run-of-the-mill activity.

Not that I've thought about this, you understand.

I got caught recently when I told my missus, who was trying to find a site she'd looked at a while ago to look in the history, to my own detriment she rapidly discovered loads of the sites I had been looking at!! Very hard to explain when the evidence is there on the screen!!!

No, neither have I. And it's not like Safari's 'private browsing' feature is perfect for exactly that function whilst using Firefox as the computer's default browser.

Google Chrome has an Incognito tab thing, so you browse without leaving evidence.

IE8 has 'in private browsing' where nothing is left of your session, but normal history from pre-inprivate browsing remains.
