take a bow

The only song I like with her on it is 'Whiskey Lullaby', and I think she ruined Keith Whitley's 'When You Say Nothing At All'.

Her production work on Alan Jackson's latest album is good though.

Baby, when I met you there was peace unknown
I set out to get you with a fine tooth comb
I was soft inside, there was somethin going on
You do something to me that I cant explain
Hold me closer and I feel no pain
Every beat of my heart
We got somethin goin on
Tender love is blind
It requires a dedication
All this love we feel
Needs no conversation
We ride it together, ah-ah
Makin love with each other, ah-ah

<Man of Harveys AND Bry Nylon>
Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in-between
How can we be wrong
Sail away with me to another world
And we rely on each other, ah-ah
From one lover to another, ah-ah

<Bry Nylon>
I cant live without you if the love was gone
Everything is nothin if you got no one
And you did walk in tonight
Slowly loosen sight of the real thing

<Man of Harveys>
But that wont happen to us and we got no doubt
Too deep in love and we got no way out
And the message is clear
This could be the year for the real thing

<Bry Nylon>
No more will you cry
Baby, I will hurt you never
We start and end as one, in love forever
We can ride it together, ah-ah
Makin love with each other, ah-ah

<Man of Harveys AND Bry Nylon>
Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in-between
How can we be wrong
Sail away with me to another world
And we rely on each other, ah-ah
From one lover to another, ah-ah

....Sail away
Oh, come sail away with me

That is lovely. Although...I think I'd prefer to be the buxom blonde. I've got the raw materials already.

There we are, I've said it - I like Kenny Rogers. I'm not ashamed of it. I am what I am, and what I am needs no excuses.

: standsup :
I like Kenny Rogers too, and I'm not afraid to say it.

My current fave song of his is 'Scarlet Fever'......

I stood outside the Lucky Star
Staring at the flashing sign
It read: come on in and watch young
Scarlet's body come alive
Let her dance for you and catch your spell
You'll swear you can believe her
Be careful not to catch the scarlet fever.

So I paid my fare and walked down front
And found an empty chair
As I settled in young scarlet took the ribbons from her hair
The moves her body made while the music played
Were the likes I've never seen
And she became the envy of my dreams.

One by one her teasing movements
Brought the crowd out of their seats
And all at once young scarlet
Danced straight up in front of me
From the moment that her eyes found mine
I've never been the same
Scarlet locked another heart upon her chain.

Now I get scarlet fever every time I see her
But she's a night club teaser
Not paid to notice me
Yes, I get scarlet fever
If she knew how much I need her
She'd place her hand in my hand
And dance away with me.

She looked 25 but I was told
That she was just 16
She had a way of making a man believe
She danced for only him
As she tantalized I fantasized
And felt the sound of my heart beat
And every night I'd dream
She'd fall in love with me.

Then one night while driving in
My eyes begun to tear
'Cause the sign outside the Lucky Star
Said: scarlet isn't here
She'd left that day to find a life
Of bigger and better things
And she left behind my chain of broken dreams.

But still get scarlet fever
In my mind I still see her
Out there dancing somewhere
To another fool like me.
Yes, I get scarlet fever every time I see her
But she's a night club teaser
Not paid to notice me
Yes, I get scarlet fever
If she knew how much I need her
She'd place her hand in my hand
And dance away with me...

The only record of Kenny Rogers I really liked was "Ruby"

If you listen to the lyrics its a very disturbing song about a crippled war vet who is begging his beautiful wife not to leave him !!

The final words "Oh Ruuubbeee, for god sakes turn around" still sends shivers down my spine.

That's it, in one - if you'd asked me before, I'd have guessed that "Coward" was a gently rustic, comic tale about some southern Benny Hill-type in-bred simpleton in dungarees - not a minature version of whether "to take arms against a sea of troubles" featuring multiple rape.

Condition is a great song - Only knew it from the Big Lebowski soundtrack, but found out that Supergrass did a cover which is great.

The only other one I know is The Gambler, as it my lady's dad's favourite song. I really like them both and must be a closet Kenny fan.

Strange fact, but I used to live next door to Nick Haywoods mum and dad in Goring. The walls in their flat were decorated with his gold discs, got to meet the great man himself on easter when he came to visit

That is TOP work Rusco, but I will see your Nick Heywood, and raise you Rick Astley.

When me and the missus worked in a resteraunt near Wallingford, after college, Rick and his Ma and Pa used to be regulars there. They owned the cunningly named 'Astley's' record store in the town. Fortunately, despite the name, they did actually sell other records too.
