Now, I don't follow foreign football whatsoever. I couldn't even name you 5/6 of there players. But they always seem to be there, or thereabouts, so I thought 16/1 was worth a Tenner - at least.

But I can't help thinking the Bookies know something I don't? Also they're in NZ's group, therefore garenteed at least 3 points.

unfortunately they are 16-1 for a reason. currently cannot gel whatsoever. an ageing defence and a lack of potency up front(apart from guiseppi rossi)

they have also left totti and cassano at home, which (especially in cassano's case based on his form this year) is BIZARRE.

They will progress but this is their weakest squad for some time sadly.

They won it last time, it is probably impossible to win it TWICE in a row. That would be magical.

Seems a better bet than England, who are at about 7 or 8-1 on some of the bookies sites I've seen.

Oscar Cardozo 100-1 and Diego Forlan 50-1 to be top goalscorer, both each way (1/4 odds) so only need one to be in top four goalscorers.
Robin Van-Persie £1 to be top goalscorer.
Gonzalo Higuain £1 to be top goalscorer.

Torres, Fabiano, Rooney, Van Persie, Anelka, Ronaldo, Drogba and Forlan all to be top scorers in their individual teams, £1 accumalator with Ladbrokes.

No European Nation has ever won the World Cup outside of Europe. :)

Brazil or Argentina are cracking bets, and I think Ivory Coast are worth an each way mention.

Can't judge a tournament by superstition, but Brazil is a very good contender (As usual)

No, but it does bear relevance in my opinion. Japan have only ever won a World Cup match when they hosted it. No African team has even won it, I would pretty much rule out every African team other than Ivory Coast for that reason, and every European team other than Spain.

I think it's between Argentina (Say what you will about their lack of tactical nous, Higuain and Messi are a lethal combination!), Brazil (How many games unbeaten during qualification? Lost at altitude in Bolivia, but that ended a long run, they're not just style and flair anymore), Spain and Ivory Coast. You can call me a favourite backer if you like and say I'm stating the obvious which is fine, but there are times when you can't look past the favourites and the most obvious.

Robin Van Persie was 33/1 to be top scorer with Corals on thursday, I took the coupon back in from friday and he'd come in to 20/1. :dunce: Gutted. So I've done him each way, essentially I have 5/1 on him being one of the top 5 goalscorers at the WC. Real value that in my opinion.

Standing in the way of control
I'll elaborate on this with odds and names at some point, but the best bets possibly are...

France to get knocked out at the group stage
Argentina to get knocked out at the group stage
The lad from Serbia to be top scorer/Serbia to qualify from the group stage
Bendtner to be top scorer/to top score for Denmark
Ji Sung Park to be top scorer for South Korea - you'll get mad odds on this
Kuyt to be top scorer for Holland - Van Persie at 2/1 is maybe a bit rubbish

Hmmm, I still think 16/1 is TOO good for the current holders. But we'll have to wait and see.

Didier Drogba top scorer at 25/1 is tempting too..
