Meopham, Kent.
I'd feel so much more comfortable if Carlisle didn't have Anyinsah. The old ex-player syndrome always scares me. Roll in the manager facing us turned us down a couple of months ago, and the irony factor is going up at an alarming rate. It's going to be a serious brown-trouser afternoon on Saturday.

Do you ever post anything positive these days. How can it turn out to be the player's biggest mistake when we were on top after our second equaliser. It sounds like you are suggesting we put 11 men behind the ball and just aimed to hold out for a draw, which is not true. But why let the truth get in the way of your moaning?

Brett who was there and is an authority on these matters said exactly what I have repeated. I am a REALIST. If you want to skip down the street thinking all is fine and dandy then bully for you. I am assuming the worst and if something good happens that is a bonus which is my take on life in general after nearly 5 decades of dissapointments

The difference between an optimist and a pessimist is that no matter what you are the outcome will always be the same.

Just that the optimist will have a better time of it. :ascarf:

I feel Carlisle WILL beat Millwall.

For Carlisle it is simple - they MUST win - whereas Millwall know they're in the play-offs, will probably expect MK Dons to finish 3rd and therefore have half their thoughts on the Leeds semi. I predict Carlisle will win by a couple of goals.

I also predict we will start extremely nervously and the players will then hear Carlisle will go 1-NIL up.

The X Factor is Northampton because there is a very realistic chance they could lose both the MK Dons and Leeds games, in which case a point may be enough regardless of what Carlisle do

In summary, our erratic home form make this a hard one to call and I see us drawing. Therefore, the Tuesday night Northampton / Dons match is a monster, because if Northampton lose they'll be shitting their pants at having to go to Elland Road to get a result on the final day. I really think the Leeds crowd will get behind them and Leeds will win comfortably.

In London village.
Please don't do this, the league will likely subsequent dock us points for a pitch invasion which in turn will relegate us.

At the END of the game, dear boy.

I am not saying we are going to stay up but what I am disputing is the story that we accepted a point. I don't see how anyone can say that we didn't give our all and go for a win on Saturday but then I am not an authority on what is going for a win and what isn't.

Out of interest, if we had gone all out for a win and put everyone forward and lost and then Cheltenham's effort that hit the post late on had gone in, would you now be criticising the team for not getting a point (which would have meant only a draw would have been needed next week). The point also keeps Northampton in the race for the drop so it is hardly pointless.

Finally, your "realism" had given up on the team weeks ago. While I thought we were down after we lost to Swindon, I carried on hoping as did the majority of fans and that has been shown with the recent recovery. If everyone was realistic like you, we would not have had any fans at any of our recent games so I would rather be optimistic thanks.

What's the point of all this conjecture about the Huddersfield performance? A point there was a decent result, especially considering we were behind twice. I'm sure the players would have taken a point before the match so that they could take their chances on the final day.

God, some of you lot are miserable bastards! It's amazing that our destiny is in our own hands, weren't we 8 points adrift of safety a few weeks ago? Surely the team with the least of anyone to play for is Stockport, they may not even exist after next weekend! I would certainly prefer to be playing Stckport rather than Millwall, MKdons or Leeds etc. Bet the other relegation threatened clubs are really pissed off that we have such a relatively easy match!

Easy match? We've got the worst home record in the division and even Cheltenham could get a point against 9 men.

decent prediction, and one I agree with.

I fear the cobblers will do the franchise on tuesday, leaving us with a very scary final saturday.

But f*** it, we've been shit all season, and we're still in with a shout. Of course I pray that we do it- but there are bigger worries in life than getting relegation

Dunno about that, surely an optimist experiencing the same thing as a pessimist is likely to be disappointed that it wasn't so good as he thought it'd be but the pessimist will be happy he enjoyed himself more than he thought he would?

Anyway, back on topic. Obviously it'd be great to have played the Huddersfield game after knowing the other results and we probably would have gone for the win but without that it was a pretty decent result.

As Finchley says, Cheltenham could have sneaked a goal and we'd have looked very daft if we'd let in a late one ourselves because we had 10 men piled into the opposition penalty area. The other point is that result has kept a very decent little unbeaten run going, losing could have been a bit of a momentum stopper!

For what it's worth, I think if we can get an early one we'll win comfortably and with Andrew and Owusu on such good form, we SHOULD be alright. I also think Carlisle/Millwall will be a draw, but Carlisle will probably be winning for the majority of it meaning we'll be rather uncomfortable for much of the afternoon!

erm, i've looked at the table and im still right.

IF we had lost on sat then all carlise would need is a draw (if we loose) and we'd go down.

as we drew and got an extra point we're now 2 points ahead of them, meaning if they draw and we loose, THEY go down.
Apologies, I see what you mean now. However, what are the chances that Brighton & Carlisle get a single point between them? Wouldn't you agree that the "they win/ we draw" combination is far more likely than the "they draw / we lose" one?

I really can't see us losing to Stockport despite our shit home record. If we get relegated, I suspect it will be because we only draw while Carlisle PLUCK a result out of nowhere and Northampton/Hartlepool get the required results themselves.

thanx! :D

and yeah i do think they will do millwall requiring us to need a win...but whatever way u look at it there could be a LOT worse versions of the league table going into the last game than what we are currently faced with.

I can't see Northampton losing at home to MK. Northampton need a point to be safe, MK will not be giving 100% because the result isn't really all that relevant to them. Posturing over potential play-off opponents is about 3% of the motivation as saving your own skin. In fact, I can't see anything other than a tepid affair tomorrow, even if it is a local derby. Nil nil will do Northampton just fine, and MK would take that, as long as Northampton don't break any of their players legs!
