Loyd Owusu! We could have really done with him today and the season so far highlights why we were so stupid and naive to offer him such a pitiful deal. I am also right in thinking that there was a bid for Racon in the summer which was turned down. If we had those two in the side surely we wouldn't be in the position now.

How about this team:
..Smith..
Hoyte Elphick Virgo Mcnulty
..Dicker..
Bennet Racon Davies

..Forster.. ..Owusu..

To think Hart got a better deal than Owusu.

Don't rewrite history, Hart didn't get a better deal that Owusu, Owusu just wanted a longer contract.

Owusu, incidently, has been shit in New Zeland or wherever he ended up, by all accounts, and has registered as many goals as Craig Davies this season.

Lloyd Owusu got Swine Flu when he moved to Australia, to be fair. Gary Hart didn't get a better deal, he just signed his whereas big Lloyd chose a new challenge.

I don't think we're worse off for him, we have a younger man up front to replace him and a better individual, in my opinion. Owusu's magic touch kept us up last season and he'll ALWAYS be a hero for that, but was he a long term option? I never thought so.

How about a goalkeeper?

Are you sure ??
Adelaide Utd dropped him yesterday against top of the table Sydney FC .
They were down to 10 men after only 8 mins and even without the
fabulous Owusu that you speak of still managed to beat them 2-1 .

Owusu is a class act in this division, just like Furlong was and other similar players.....Murray and Owusu didnt get on, this was a factor as well but its not uncommon for players to find Murray a little hard to GEL with......So now tell me ive just made that up!!!!!!!!

Owusu and Dickinson are fairly different players.

We are missing Owusu big time, mainly at home. Withdean is a narrow pitch, not really set up for wingers, so playing a target man at home makes sense. Owusu was a decent target man (the other we have had in recent years was Iwelumo) and used the Withdean conditions well.

This season we have had no natural target man in the side and our home results have suffered.

Agreed - every team needs a player like Owusu as an option - a big muscley lump who is a pain in the backside for the opposition defense. They do not have to be the most skillful player in the world to be effective. They draw defenders giving the other strikers space. We miss him - dickenson is not the same type of player (in fact if he was he would be more effective).

But does he get the service from the players? The standard out there is lower and Loyd is the guy that finishes off the move, not create, hence why the partnership of him and Hart worked so well.

In this league you need a player like him and I thought we had signed one in Dickinson however he has turned out to be a completely different player.

A Stockport fan commented on here just after we signed Dickinson that if we played balls to his feet in and around the area he would excel. He then said that if you lump balls to him and expect him to win stuff in the air he was close on useless.

Edit, found the thread

The guy was on the money, here it is post no 87
