We sit six points clear of second place with a game in hand on most of our rivals. We have a goal difference that only SCC can get near to and they need to find a lot of goals and eight points to get above us. Last night two of our rivals failed to beat teams that they really needed to beat, both at home too. Last Saturday we gave them all a chance to catch up and only Huddersfield did but even they need six points from fewer games not to mention sixteen goals to get ahead of us.

I don't want to sound complacent as there's a long way to go but frankly in all the years I've followed this club I can't ever remember being quite so confident as I am right now.

Last night,we got three points and Colchester 0,obviously. All the other games were drawn,so we gained two points on every other team that played in our division.

This I like.

How are Palace getting on? And what about Pompey?

*snigger*

SCC are taking their time to overtake us as well. I think this is the best team we've had since the early 80s, with all due respect it's better than the double Championship side not to mention the Play Off team. It has to be the Gus Factor, he has yet to make a signing that hasn't been of the highest quality. He has brought out the best of the likes of Murray and El Abd (Adam reminds me very much of Simon Morgan but he's younger and has better knees). It is a very nice place to be and just to wind up my gobby Saints colleague I am wearing my BHAFC tie.

There's bound to be some slip-ups between now and the end of the season, but I cannot see this team going on a sustained run of poor results that would threaten our top 2 place. And EVEN if we did, there are no signs of anyone else in the chasing pack going on a sustained run of results that would see us overhauled, certainly not TWO teams managing it anyway.

Given our run of fixtures over the next couple of months, we are going to have to suffer some serious loss of form, to slip up. We have played almost everyone from the top half of the table away from home and things don't really get tricky until the last month of the season. So there is still a long way to go, but look through the fixtures and try and pick 5 games where you think we could lose on current form. Then try and imagine one of the chasers only losing two games between now and the end of the season. A prolonged run of draws would certainly get a bit scary, but even then we have match winners ready to come of the bench and grab a late goal. So yes, I guess a little smugness is in order.

With respect, Carole (although admittedly he did a JOB in the loosest term), Holroyd, Arismendi, Battipiedi, Baz (I know, I know, give them time- but I really don't expect them to be here next season).

the best thing in all this is:

a) we have played all the top teams away already.

b) teams play different against us, they try and press and harry, this means at worst we will have the odd draw or weird freak defeat.

c) i bet 30 squids on auto promotion, and 20 squids on us being champions in the summer :))))))

The jury's still out on all of them execpt Carole with a lot of people, we will see at the end of the season. Frankly I'll be surprised if Holdroyd or Baz goes.

Not to mention that we only play 2 of the top 10 in our next 13 games!

Not so sure if that is good or bad. Granted three of our defeats have come against so called promotion candidates but Hartlepool hardly come into that category. Seeing teams like Orient hammering Wednesday and us drawing at home to Brizzle shows that no game is a foregone conclusion. Admittedly I think we are better than anybody else but don't be too shocked we have another Hartlepool before the season's over.

Would rather be playing those compared to teams in the top 6, puts us in a better position. Only thing is the amount of games to play in March being a bit of a worry, especially if we go through to the 5th round of the F.A Cup
