My washing machine is on the wi-fi network at home. I can program it from my phone. Of course this is all pretty much useless as I have to manually load it so may as well turn the nob to the wash I want anyway when I'm done loading (although knowing how long its got left via the phone is useful if you can't be arsed to get off the sofa).

it does annoy the hell out of me that almost everything needs an account these days, and so much security-even my bloody hearing aids needs a super safe password to log in to the app so I can adjust the bloody things. Is someone really likely to hack my hearing aids and turn them up or down? why the f*** do i need a password with one uppercase, one lowercase letter, one number and one special character?

I love gadgets.
Best I purchased (was free after a review) was a fridge camera. You show it a product and it remembers it and you simply then tell it what the product is or it reads barcodes. It then takes a picture when you open and close the door. Any item removed is added to the Tesco shoping list. You can also check the latest picture to see the contents of your fridge.
It lasted a week before it fell off and broke.

Indeed, passwords are the bane of modern life!
Website: "Sorry, we do not recognise that password."
Website? "Forgotten your password? Enter your email address and we'll send you a link to set up a new one."
Email received and new password entered - back to login....
Website: "You cannot use that password as you have used it before."
Me - " Yes I f*ckin' know I have - it's the one I was using when I got this message...........
Website: "Sorry, we do not recognise that password."
Grrr!

It annoys me that you can't just check out as a guest, and not set up an account. and the first marketing mail I get, I just say I don't want any marketing.

The password things makes no sense. It’s broken.
Originally we all had one. DognameDOB or similar.
Then we realised we needed to be a bit smarter so we changed our passwords.
Then companies data was breached so we needed to change our passwords.
Fine. I can deal with that.

But this shit now just doesn’t work. Think of a password with only 4 vowels, two characters, no odd numbers, one capital letter but not at the beginning, no numbers in any kind of order that could suggest a date or year, no words you’ve previously used.
For EVERY SINGLE app and website.
It’s ludicrous.

And don’t get me started on captchas.

Why? Genuine question - not judging you.
It’s “integrated”, so when the door is shut you can’t see any of the controls such as “time remaining“.

Plus I can see statistics such as water and power used. And no, I can’t remember when I last looked at the app!
