Northampton did not come for a poxy point, and were never going to respect Brighton because of our league position. We were supposed to fold, but we weren't in the mood to let the points all go to Northampton.
In my view that was a cracking game with several exciting elements - and the twat on the phone-in who insisted we must beat teams like them was barking if he thought they were rubbish.
Yet we penned them back in the 2nd half, and could have won it. Don't blame the attack for the ending, we ought to look at our defending for their goal (as usual).

Fickle fans in E block went from jeering and berating to cheering and elating, but really ought to lift the team instead of criticizing all the time. That's why Withdean sucks, no patience and crappy to play in such an unsympathetic auditorium.

Give the players a break - they played with intent and passion, and deserve all the applause you people can muster.

Good performance, and exciting game - but ultimately a point at home to Northampton is a disappointing result. Well, it is for me anyway.

Not that I was the twat on the phone in!

What are you talking about? Northampton were shit, they were the worst team I've seen us play this season, absolutely pathetic. They were less coherent than the Albion have been this season!

That said, we created plenty of chances and were unlucky not to beat them, but they had a couple of good chances themselves, Jason Crowe's shot from 25 yards was brilliant, and very unlucky. But they were poor, we should have beaten them and it's a real shame we haven't, but it's a 1-1 draw and it's another point toward the 55.

Oh, and about the fickle fans in block E, I sit in the heart of it and I couldn't agree more. The people who booed and jeered Micky were up in arms cheering at times, pathetic in my opinion, why they couldn't have applauded and supported Micky I just don't know.

Disappointng result or not, if last Saturday morning someone had said to me we'd be 4 points better off by tonight, I'd have snapped their hand off.

Are you sure? I thought it was one of the most tedious games of the season - the stadium was absolutely DEAD today.

Shame that Dean White completely hamstrung us in the 1st half, it was only really put right once Virgo was sent off and we had strikers up front and midfielders/wingers in their proper positions. Amazing what a difference that can make.

If Carole and Davies had started, with Virgo playing at CB, then we would have won that game. FACT.

The stadium is always dead.
The game was half decent, as Northampton came to attack (hardly surprising given our home record - if you can't win away at Withdean, then where are you going to win ?). It made for a reasonable spectacle, typical thud and blunder 3rd division fayre.

It was especially dead today. The game didn't ever seem to get going, and there was no sustained spell of pressure from either team that lifted the crowd. Was very dour indeed.

I totally agree with you.It was an entertaining game tonight, all these idiots saying it was rubbish or the worse game they have seen are complete numpties. Ok we should have won but we will stay up i have no doubt about that at all. Stop moaning and get behind the team.

I wouldn't put it up there as an exciting game! But it was far from the worst game there this season.

As said earlier, four points from the last two games is a good return.

I love it, to the high hills of yonder yesteryear, when people use the "they were the shitiest bunch of talent-less, shapeless bunch of tossers, clearly out on day release from the land of footballing make believe that we've ever failed to beat..." argument... Here's something strange... Perhaps we made them look shit! because we actually played a wee, tiny and quite possibly almost unnoticeably, bit better than we have for most of the season... yes as implausible as it sounds, I think we've improved so much that we actually made the might of Northampton Town seem belittled next to our footballing genius and dare I say it slight, yet undeniable, progressive improvement over the last two games.

I for one would be "cock-a-hoop", (my thanks go to Easy 10, for correcting my error there, you see I'd written: "cocker hoop", sadly as it's a phrase I'd never written down before I made the all too obvious error of spelling it phonetically. Still I'm always trying to widen/deepen my vocabulary and felt the phrase was well suited to the rather self indulgent vein of this post, for this and my other sins I make no apologies. I will, however, always strive to make sure I don't repeat this kind of error, as I would imagine Easy 10 is a little disappointed he's had to waste his undoubted genius simply correcting my mistake.) if at home at least, we could continue to come up against shit teams as this suggests we are (day I say it… hmmmm yes) improving.

Albion.

I bet Crewe look shit on Saturday, 2-0 will say it's true.

Kosh

Now for a rock pic... ahhhhhhhhhh that's better... much better...

I thought it was one of the better games, northampton didn't just come to defend and the thought hard....some too hard....and Albion tried to play a bit and the effort was certainly appreciated by the applause at the end despite a dissapointing result.

There Aare beacons there, McNulty, Carole are flair, Elphick is free to play passes rather than lump it and others are playing better now in more suitable positions.

We have the players, we just need the manager.
