Driving up the A23 this morning, doing about 70mph, behind a works truck that had some building equipment in the back (one of those open trailer type lorries). Fortunately for me, I was a sensible enough distance back from the lorry, cos all of a sudden, one of those round metal "STOP/GO" signs that spin round, gots caught by the wind and FLYS out of the back of the lorry towards my car, before veering off left and landing on the side of the road. It was within about 15-20 ft of crashing through my windshield.

f***ing TWAT builders, I nearly filled my pants.

Did you take their number?
It did cross my mind, but the truck was so filthy that the numberplate wasn't actually readable (an offence in itself). Didn't have time to overtake and make my feelings known, as I was near my turnoff for Haywards Heath. Not that there's anything I could have done anyway. Even if I'd done a :tosser: at the driver, he was probably oblivious to what was going on behind him.

Did they stop to retrieve their sign? Or did they just carry on?
They just carried on. We were doing about 70, I don't think the driver even had a clue to be honest.

I'm fine now, just a bit shaken up at the time.
Golf is still on. Missus is still oblivious. I'm sloping off about 12.45, and I have nothing to do between now and then other than to eat my sarnies.

Marvellous.

Ham, cheese spread and tomato in one.
Liver pate and tomato in the other. And a bag of French Fries crisps.

That should keep me going till the chips & curry sauce at the Albion tonight.

(sorry to have spoilt the guessing game, but they'll be different tomorrow, and I'm in all day tomorrow).

Easy . . .something happens every day on the A23 . . . .itsd an occupational hazard . . . .I suggest everyone takes the train, leave the roads clear for me to have my own private lane so I can hold a minimum of 100 mph from Shoreham to Crawley . . . .it would improve my quality of life no end :lolol:

Very true zefarelly...its just it doesn't normally happen to me.
I'm just not used to driving into an audition for Mad Max 4 - Beyond Pycombe, on my way to work.
