As irrelevant today as he always was, Malcolm McClaren was the real brains .

I don’t think you can say he was irrelevant. We can argue the toss about the Pistols, Lydon and McClaren but we can’t escape the fact he played a huge part in that band and punk itself . And Public Image Ltd were a very important and influential band as well. To play such a major part in two music genres isn’t irrelevant. I still listen to PiL from time to time. Metal Box is a stunning album.

Huge legacy but these days he’s an elderly gobshite.

.....and I certainly know what Beach Seagull would call a man who is married to a German publishing heiress but claims to be working class :lolol:

IMO people don't vote for Trump because he isn't a politician (he is now), knows about and understands the working class :)lolol:) or is not the establishment (he always has been).

IMO they vote for him because he represents the opposite of the socially liberal 'woke' section of society and actively winds this side up. They more he winds up this section the more his base love him.

When Trump is gone Trumpism will stay because the socially conservative section of society, unhappy with the rate of social change, hasn't gone anywhere.

I never knew, until I read his last book, Anger Is An Energy, that he was supposed to be on the Lockerbie flight. His wife, Nora, took so long packing, they didn't get to the airport on time.

Don't agree with him on his Trump stuff but loved the Pistols, love PiL and, when the latter played The Concorde 3-4 years ago, he still had tremendous stage presence.

I wonder if he's watched the movie final destination?

Very interesting character. His views seem rather complicated and at times contradictory. Says he doesn't like Biden but seems to support much of what he stands for.

Disappointed that due to brane fade or callous indifference and a 'why not?' attitude he's opted to spout populist blather in return for money.

I agree.

Luckily, just like the real life Alf Garnetts: your actual 'nocker' Enoch Powell and the gammon that was Bernard Manning, in 30 years they will all have gone somewhere - up in smoke or into the earth.

He was one of the first white music people to get involved in hiphop as well, helping to spread it outside New York.

The stats on the wall are certainly not impressive (but no-one seems to care): 'By September 25, 2020, 321 miles of barrier had been constructed during the Trump presidency. According to CBP, 400 miles (640 km) had been built by October 29, 2020 with a goal of 450 miles total by the end of the year. So far, all but nine miles of the construction has replaced old or broken barriers.

Then there is the lack of locking up Hillary Clinton and the failure to repeal and replace 'Obamacare'. And yet his supporters claim Trump is a president who 'gets things done'. Yeah, ok mates!

Probably wasted on this particular thread but this is must watch TV:-

His whole stupid argument is that liberal-minded people do nothing for the working class, which conveniently ignores the fact that Trump has delivered on absolutely f**k all of his election promises:

Wall - not built except for 400 miles which were not paid for by Mexico
Jobs - fewer jobs available (even pre-Covid)

But hey, he whinges blindly about the liberal establishment so he must be a proper man of the people. It doesn't matter that he's a nasty racist bully seemingly. Thank f**k he's lost.

Says a Liberal

I wonder what the OP thought of Mr Lydon when he sang God save the queen, she ain't no human bean, she made you a moron, potential H bomb? ???

Now Lydon's pretending to be a racist old gammon, Mouldy has reached for the tub of vaseline and a toilet roll

I'ts kind of sweet in some respects.

I'm surprised, after the recent suspension for offenses against Dame Anna Neagle (a euphemism coined by Peter Cook), Mouldy hasn't yet joined #teamCorbyn

Oh, did I say 'twunt'? If not, twunt.:shit:

Cant forget that Trump was in the top 3 "Gallup Most Admired Men in America" poll (think it is mentioned in the Letterman interview below but could also be some other old talk show) for many years in the 1980s. I think a lot of oldies etc. who decided to stay in the 80s but dont really give a shit about politics voted for him just because they remember him being seen as some good, honest sensible decent bloke back in the days. Stuff like that lingers in the back of peoples minds for a long time.

Superb mate 👍

A little known connection between the Pistols and Burgess Hill is that, back in 2002, they were rehearsing somewhere nearby for their Pistols At The Palace gig. John required emergency dental treatment which he obtained at a BH dental practice. Whilst he was in there, the rest of the band and crew piled into The Kings Head on the London Road for a few drinks to pass the time. Sadly, the pub closed 10 years later so never had the chance to get an English Heritage blue plaque put up to mark the occasion 😂

I remember them opening the gig with a blinding version of Hawkwind's Silver Machine which, at the time, I thought was a bit random but then subsequently read that he was a big Hawkwind fan.
