My thread was relevant and catorgrised under the sub heading Brighton.
Not many answered I suppose as not too many live in Brighton & Hove
I believe it was a military Helicopter of some kind.

I heard a helicopter late last night about 23:30 ish. It was very loud but don't think it was a Chinnouk as they have a distinctive sound though I was indoors at this point.
As a matter of interest they fly regularly over Woodingdean but during the day enroute to Whitehawk and then return 5 mins later.

They used to land in a field, near the Black Boys Inn, Uckfield.
The field was part of a caravan / camping site called the Cider House.
