Watch: Ice boulders form on Lake Michigan shore as frigid winds batter Great Lakes
On Sunday, a video captured massive waves crashing on Lake Michigan amid freezing temperatures and gusty winds.
Ice boulders formed on the Lake Michigan shore on Sunday, February 16, as northern winds caused blowing snow.
Footage from Nate’s Dronography shows chunks of ice on the Lake Michigan shore in Saint Joseph as huge waves crash against the North Pier.
“Massive 12-14 foot waves of ice slam lighthouse,” Nate described. “Huge balls of ice litter the pier as they are chucked onto it by the waves.”
The National Weather Service advised residents to bundle up for the coming week, saying temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing anytime soon.
