Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
By turning a two time play-off contending team in relegation certainties in 7 short months. ONE win in 19, having inherited that squad.

I think the club helped the deterioration by selling two of our best players.

Brighton / Hove actually
He came to a broken shambles of a patched up squad and tried to make us more attacking. If there is anything we can take from him, he encouraged more urgency in the way we played. A lot of the work he did will hopefully have helped prepare the team for the next man which is much better than what he had when he arrived.

We have played well in parts this season and we have also had our own bad luck where others have had great fortune. Joining us this summer was a poison chalice and a mighty job for any manager at the time.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Clough. He was a dreadful manager.

That's irony I take it (as you gave my nomination of Clough a thumbs down). Were you there?
He singlehandedly demolished and demotivated a good side and turned us into a shambles that were destroyed by non leaguers in one of the worst seasons in our history. Even
Peter Taylor (the first) apologised and stayed on to try to rebuild from the debris Clough left behind.
Reputation is nothing. Fantastic talent everywhere but with us.

Yes I was there and remember exactly what happened thanks. Following your logic Taylor must also have been a bad manager, oh but hang on he got us Ward and Horton and the nucleus of the team that Mullers took over.

You will remember that Taylor was very much No2 to Clough. His good work for us was when he stayed to clear up Clough's mess after it got out of hand and old big head walked. His best work at other clubs was to clean up behind Clough before it got out of hand.
