If, as expected, this is one of the bigger January spends in the football league ever...say City go in for multiple players with shed loads of cash (preferably in England not abroad, but at least some will be in England), say they buy a couple from Wigan, Spurs, Hull or whoever, and they in term filter more further downwards...

would you except say 750 k for Murray, if at least 350 k was promised to be funneled back into transfers...!?

OR

600k for Elphick, with 300 k being funneled down?

The bean counters will win the day, but if it was up to me I'd do all I could to hang onto Murray, he is one player we have who can be worth the entrance money to watch imo and if he leaves I'll have even less incentive to go. We will be incredibly fortunate to replace him with a player with a smidgen of his talent, even if we did spend half the money we get for him...imo like.

Probably wont happen. With the players city are in for most of the money will end up at clubs who are more likely to buy from abroad.

I agree about Murrauy, i think he could be a figure head of the albion and like something for the supporteers to hang on to in the next few years.

Hoping to see a bit of Murray's class is one of the reasons I go to watch the Albion.

I fail to see how this linkage would happen. They are starting by buying from Chelsea, and if they buy from Wigan/Spurs/Hull, all will then look to buy players to assure their premiership status as opposed to take a punt on an unknown from a lower league.

So no, I very much doubt it will filter down, especially seeing as everyone bar the top6 could be relegation candidates this season in the Prem.
