WWII plane crashes near air show

A plane taking part in an air show has crashed, according police.

A spokesman for Shoreham Airshow in West Sussex confirmed the aircraft - which is thought to be a World War II plane - went down in countryside.

He said the accident happened away from the airfield on Saturday afternoon and no spectators were hurt.

It is not clear how many people were on board the plane but the spokesman described the accident, which happened one mile from the airfield, as serious.

Argus is saying is was a Spitfire. Saw 6 fly over my house earlier and then a bit later one on its own very low, have a feeling it was the lone Spitfire that went down.

I saw nthem flying over my house and i dont think it was one of them, they were going in the wrong direction for starters

Hurricane aparantly only the pilot on board, no news if he survived but if he was still in the plane when it crashed then i doubt it!
