On a train...
Just spoken to a colleague at South Central who said there have been many people going into Brighton Station today and pre-booking tickets for Cardiff.

If you want tickets for a "normal" train to Cardiff, either via London, Reading or along the coast you are advised to get your tickets ASAP.

Does this mean that these trains will be reservation only?
And given the very many thousands already travelling to Cardiff for the other play-off finals, haven't Great Western (or whoever they call themselves now) laid on additional trains out of London and thus via Reading?

Possibly, but there may be some 'Open' tickets left over (Basically the very expensive ones).

Also, as it's a Sunday there are less trains running.

Why on earth are less trains running on the very Sunday that thousands need to travel? I can feel an email starting "Dear Mr Fat Controller..."coming on!!!!

It's madness. Anyone with half a brain would realise that there should be more trains not fewer but that seems to have passed First Great Western by.

I've travelled to Cardiff for rugby matches and it's been madness getting back, a couple of years ago (after the England game), I arrived in London at near midnight having reached Cardiff station before 5.00 and watched two trains to London pull out without my reaching the station concourse. And then the train went a roundabout route as they picked that day for engineering works.

It's no wonder that I persuaded my mate to drive.

All tickets that are NOT via London are now sold out.

The only option left is to travel via Paddington.
