When Chris Hughton was appointed, in the wake of the Sami debacle, he was widely welcomed, as a 'safe pair of hands'. If 'safe' just meant steady, then okay - you could see the logic. However, it seems that 'safe' in Hughton's case, is actually in the risk-averse sense. Safe as in 'play it safe'. Always. He seems a decent chap, and I wish him every success, but my word he's negative.
